Today's Menu:
*Syrian chicken stew with potatoes and chickpeas
*Fluffy Syrian-style basmati rice
*Red Lentil and Vegetable soup
*Syrian Cookies
*Tea and Coffee

Chef Samir is working on his dessert for today's meal. He and volunteer Shelley are making Syrain style cookies, a bit similar to the familiar shortbread cookie.

We want to give a special thanks to members of the Regional Royals football team for showing up to set up the dining room, clean the fridge and pantry, and to pick up garbage around the fridge area. Thank you for giving up your Sunday morning to help out.

And, thanks again to Clydesdale Chicken and Turkey for donating the poultry box. Thank you to to the Antigonish Community Food Bank for generously supplying us with produce and other ingredients for these events.

Hot meal service is from 12pm-1pm in the Community Room, at the Antigonish Farmers' Market Association building, 20 Exhibition Lane, Antigonish.

This is a free event. Everyone is welcome at the table.

Please join us this Sunday, October 18, 2026, for a special edition of our Community Soup Gathering.

We are pleased to welcome to our Soup team chef Samir Al Taleb, owner/chef of The Baklava House at the Antigonish Farmers' Market Association.

Chef Samir has prepared a menu that sounds warm and comforting on these cool, autum days.

A Taste of Authentic Syrian Cuisine

MAIN DISHES

1. Syrian-Style Chicken Stew with Potatoes & Chickpeas: Tender chicken simmered with potatoes and chickpeas in a flavourful, traditional Syrian broth.

2. Traditional Syrian Fluffy Rice: Light, fluffy white rice prepared in the traditional Syrian style.

3. Red Lentil & Vegetable Soup: A comforting soup made with red lentils, potatoes, carrots, and colourful bell peppers.

SYRIAN DESSERT

4. Syrian Ghraybeh Cookies: Traditional Syrian melt-in-your-mouth cookies made with flour, sugar, and ghee.

Hot meal service is from 12pm-1pm in the Community Room at the Antigonish Farmers Market building, 20 Exhibition Lane, Antigonish.

Available right now in both of our fridges from the St. FXU student union: Turkey dinners (some contain just carrots, potatoes and gravy). Thank you very much!!

We have been busy busy busy in the kitchen today!

We have a hearty chicken soup, a vegetarian pozole containing cabbage, shallots, tomatillos, garlic, lime and cilantro.

We have chocolate cherry trifle, strawberry vanilla trifle, tea and coffee.

We are open from 12pm-1pm at the Community Room at the Antigonish Farmers' Market Association, 20 Exhibition Lane.

This is a free event. Everyone is welcome at the table.

We may call our events Community Soup Gatherings, but we don't stop at just serving soup!

To start our 3rd season of Community Soup Gatherings, we are opening with a bang!

Noon til 1 pm in the Community Room at the Antigonish Farmers Market building.

Today's Menu:
*Sunday Roast Beef with Gravy
*Roast Potatoes
*Roasted Corn on the Cob
*Sweet Peas
*Creamy Turnip & Shallot Soup
*Vanilla Cupcakes
*Chocolate Cake

Something new this year is a coffee and tea station for our patrons.

We have loads of onions, shallots and potatoes to give away.

This is a free event. Everyone is welcome at the table.
