DEADLINE EXTENDED! There's still space in our Leadership for Young Professionals course, so we've extended the registration deadline to January 8!

This course is intended to support young professionals in the early stages of their careers as they explore what leadership means to them in the context of their work and future goals. It will offer participants the chance to grow their understanding of what leadership means, explore their own personal strengths as leaders, learn new skills, and begin to think through how they can apply their leadership in the workplace. Registration closes Tuesday December 3.

Full bursaries are available from the CEI for eligible applicants from the Nova Scotia Works system. A limited number of full bursaries are also available for First Nations, Mรฉtis and Inuit persons residing in Canada as well as persons from African Nova Scotian communities. If you belong to one of these communities and would like to request a full bursary, please reach out to [email protected] - once the email is reviewed, a voucher code for free registration will be provided.

Are you a career development professional in Nova Scotia who works with youth? Join our Youth Focused Community of Practice!

The Youth Focused Community of Practice runs from September to April each year, and is a space for career development professionals from across Nova Scotia to gather and discuss how to best support youth entering the workforce. The group was formed in collaboration between the Centre for Employment Innovation and TEAMWork Cooperative Recent topics of conversation have included youth entrepreneurship, supports for Indigenous youth, and the future of work.

On September 26, the CEI hosted a group of Nova Scotia Works staff in Wolfville for a Fall Ideation Lab!

Participants spent the day engaged in a series of activities designed to help them imagine and prepare for the future of service delivery. Through facilitated conversations and a "future wheels cafe," they explored how current and emerging trends might shape the future(s) of career development, thought through potential impacts and opportunities, and worked together to identify how their organizations could respond.

On June 17, the CEI hosted visiting facilitators Michelle Dunscomb and Dee Brooks from the Jeder Institute for a workshop on Asset Based Community Driven Development (ABCD) approaches to community outreach. Participants from 14 Nova Scotia Works centers gathered to explore a series of tools for applying an asset-based lens to their community outreach practices.
