The Almonte Lions Club, with tremendous support from Carebridge Community Support, and the Almonte Civitan Club, wish to express our heartfelt appreciation for your support of our Christmas Food Hamper Program.

Thanks to the generosity of this community, we were able to ease the burden for many of our neighbours in Mississippi Mills!

On December 20th, 150 hampers, overflowing with food, were delivered to members of our community who requested support. Each basket was gratefully received as a token of love from a caring community.

This project, to serve our neighbours in need, has come to represent the true essence of the Christmas Spirit.

Special recognition is due to the volunteers from the Mississippi Mills Fire Dept for their help with the loading/unloading of all the groceries, to Marc at ACE for the use of the UHaul truck, and to Bill and Stella Lawrence of the Almonte Civitan Club for their partnership and the use of the hall for this vital community effort. This is a project that touches so many, and requires the joint efforts of many volunteers. All are to be thanked most sincerely.

Your support builds the legacy of community kindness and caring central to this project.

Our Annual Christmas Hamper Program is now underway!
We count on the generosity of the community to support this effort of care and compassion to our neighbours and friends. Families in need will receive a generous hamper of grocery items including all of the items for a traditional Christmas dinner, plus many other healthy, and essential staples.
Please consider making a financial contribution toward the 2025 Christmas Hamper Program. Charitable Receipts will be issued for all donations..
The easiest way to donate is through the PayPal Giving Fund at this link: https://www.paypal.com/ca/fundraiser/charity/3412603 We receive 100% of your gift and PayPal will issue your CRA Tax Receipt on our behalf.
Other ways to donate are:

We will also be doing a “Cashier Ask Day” on Saturday December 6th at Your Independent Grocer. In support of this project, Jonsson’s, our local grocery store, will conduct a “cashier ask” day soliciting donations to this project as you shop. Lion’s club members will be present to answer any questions you may have.
If you can assist, we will gratefully receive your donation. As we approach this Christmas season, please remember that you can help make someone’s life a bit brighter through your gift. Additionally, if you feel so inclined, VOLUNTEERS are always needed, and welcome to assist in this process. On Friday Dec 19th groceries are picked up, and delivered, to our “staging area” at the Almonte Civitan Club. Baskets are assembled in the morning. On Saturday Dec 20th, between 9 am and 12 noon clients can pick up their requested baskets via our “Drive Thru” model in the parking lot of the Civitan Club. Not surprisingly, some families lack transportation, and some volunteers are needed to deliver a few baskets to families.
On behalf of all of those who we will serve, and the volunteers, who work so tirelessly, please accept our sincere gratitude.

We're a bit late in posting but, last month we were very happy to award the winners of this years Duck Race with their prizes! The 1st place ticket was purchased by an anonymous member of the Mississippi Mills Fire Dept who very generously donated the $1,000.00 prize money to the Lanark County Food Lanark County Food Bank-The Hunger Stop! WOW!! Congratulations also go to Mark, 2nd place $600.00 winner and Jane, 3rd place $350.00 winner! Looking forward to doing it again at next year's Duck Race!

It was another very successful day on Saturday for our Annual Duck Race and it was a SELL-OUT again this year!
Thanks to all the folks who came out to cheer on their duck along the banks of the Mississippi River next to the Almonte Old Town Hall.
We couldn't have done it without the Mississippi Mills Fire Department and their crew who helped to make it happen for everybody!
This year's winning Duck Numbers are:
• 1st Place $1,000.00 - Ticket #126
• 2nd Place $600.00 - Ticket #230
• 3rd Place $350.00 - Ticket #918
• Lame Duck Last Place $50.00 - Ticket #577
CONGRATULATIONS to the Winners and we'll be in touch with them soon to award their prize money.

Our 2025 Duck Race is now SOLD OUT of tickets! Thank you so much to everyone who has a duck in the race and we wish you all good luck tomorrow at the Almonte Old Town Hall. Even if you don't have a duck in the race, come on down for all the fun and excitement. We drop the ducks in the river at 12:30 pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone there and thank you for supporting the Almonte Lions Club and the MMFD!

The Almonte Lions Club warmly invites everyone in our community to unite in a display of patriotism by purchasing a large inexpensive Canadian flag for just $10.00 each. Our vision is to see every home and business proudly showcasing their love for our great country, fostering a sense of unity and community spirit. We encourage you to adorn your homes, garages, fence posts, businesses, and farms with these flags, creating a vibrant tapestry of national pride. Let's fly as many Canadian flags as possible throughout our town! We urge everyone to participate in this joyful celebration leading us up to Canada Day! All proceeds will support the Almonte Lions Club and, in turn, be reinvested into our community. Now, more than ever, let's stand together and show our collective love for this country and for each other.
