I’m using Instagram to update my hours and show the wondrous things we are doing at Curious & Kind. This month I have a friend from Almonte visiting and being the artist in residence.

Every week I provide space for folks to do things they’d like to try.

I have been playing four hours a week of chess since the beginning of October with a thoughtful man who had never won a game in his life. Last Friday he won. Fair and square.

There are weekly art making sessions, writing sessions, open hang outs and on Thursday a nine year old hosts her own creative club.

Sometimes I have parents who just need a twenty minute break, drop off their kids, and I read to them.

There is a clothing swap rack, and plenty of fidgets to stim with.

People wonder what Curious & Kind is, and I tell them it’s a community space for gentle-hearted humans who want to make friends.

This iteration of the concept is making my heart so happy.

Thursday, October 2nd, 2025

Today has already been an adventure is friendship! From a sugar delivery run, to being able to gently reassure a friend about her dog’s surgery…I never know what will happen from day to day.

We are closed from 1-2pm for a creative play session, and open again from 3-5pm.

What *is* Curious & Kind? Like really?

Today I had a chess session. Am I good at chess? No. If you are, and would like to come play, or teach us. Let me know.

On Thursday I have a creative play session scheduled with a 3 year old and his mom, so he can get ready for school next fall. If that’s something you might need, let me know.

This is my third time running Curious & Kind…and it is what people bring to it.

Right now the direction seems to be quiet space for connection and creative sessions.

It’s an all ages space and has an accessible entrance.

I have art supplies, writing supplies, and I love listening to stories, or providing space to make friends. You can just pop in between 11-1pm Mon, Wed, Thursday and Friday. Or you can book me and the space for times on either side of those times.

If you’re looking to start a small quiet club, say knitting, or writing, or drawing, or something I haven’t yet imagined…this is the place. An incubator for gentle-hearted kindness.

I have monster making supplies on hand too, if you don’t know what to do. We can make monsters together.

You can also grab a book from the Curious & Kind library and sit and read.

Maybe you’re looking after your grand-kid and need a gentle place to go for half and hour. I’ll read to your kiddo, and you can sit and have a moment to yourself.

I have this space until June 30th, 2026. It’s funded by me. Because I need to make a difference in this world. I want to see people being gentle and thoughtful with each other, and so I want to *be* the change I want to see. Put my money where my mouth is.

My Thursday so far. One of the creative play sessions isn’t happening today, so I’ve decided to leave early to go to a meeting at the gallery I volunteer at. So my amended hours are 10-4pm.

But feel free to pop in and make a monster with me, or sit and read something on one of our various couches, chairs or even the floor.

I love my doggo friends, but forget sometimes that my asthma will act up. So I’m heading home at 4pm today.

It was a beautiful day of wondrous visits and donation drop offs. Now we have supplies for collage making! And a hanger for clothing swapping.

This iteration of Curious & Kind is a beautiful kind of magic that is still coming to life…and it’s exciting. I love that it’s a quiet creative space.
