At Community Development Halton, we see every day how nonprofits shape the life of our community.
Across Halton, nonprofits and community organizations create spaces where people can connect, take part, support one another, and help shape the communities they call home.
Their work is woven into everyday life — through the programs we join, the services we rely on, the causes we care about, and the ways we come together as neighbours.
Part of our work at Community Development Halton is helping people better understand how Halton is changing. Through our Community Data Watch research, we look at the trends shaping our region — from population growth and housing to diversity, health, homelessness, and changing community needs. Good local data helps organizations plan services, understand where needs are emerging, advocate for change, and make informed decisions for the people they serve.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about the many ways nonprofits are already part of our lives — often in ways we may not even realize.
Because when we understand our communities better, we can build stronger, more responsive communities together.

WOW! What an amazing day we had at the 4th Annual Halton Non-Profit Congress this past Saturday October 3, 2026! Many thanks to the Town of Milton for hosting us at the Milton Seniors Recreation Centre (shoutout to Drew and Scott for all your help) and to everyone who enjoyed a full day of learning and networking.

The morning started with a fantastic keynote presentation by Erin Spink, MA, on the global trends impacting volunteer engagement. This was followed by a networking session where attendees came together by sub-sector to discuss items of mutual concern, including cybersecurity issues, decent volunteerism, and funding/fundraising need.

Lunch was provided by Community Living North Halton's Lunchbox Cafe and Catering and the afternoon had attendees attending one of three workshops delivered by Acclaim Health's Melissa Cameron, Cyber Harrassment Support's President Varsha Vaishali, and Jessica Pang-Parks of Learn with JPP. CDH's own Rishia Burke closed out Congress with a session on building community using ABCD concepts.

Thank you to our amazing sponsors - Lawrie Insurance Group, Co-operators, SB Partners LLP, Burlington Lion's Club - and to the Congress Planning Committee and the CDH and Volunteer Halton staff team.
