God is faithful. He is compassionate. This is not the end.

For men who are perhaps standing in the rubble of their own failures, these whispers echo long—men whose lives have been torn down by their own choices, whose greed, lust, self-sufficiency, pride, or misguided version of masculinity have ruined lives, relationships, business, or alienated children—compassion’s melody is carried on the breeze.

Failure, even judgment, sees another sunrise. And with that sunrise, the light and heat of God’s love shine on us.

It is easy to support politicians when “our guys” are in office. It’s easy to pray for leaders when we agree with them.

It is much more difficult to pray for leaders whose values we oppose or whose policies concern us.

Yet, this is exactly what Scripture commands us to do.

Every believer has the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14), and the Holy Spirit has all the gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).

We should ask for gifts, identify our gifts, and develop them, as previously discussed.

We also need to be open to the Spirit using any of His gifts through us at any given time.

What have people affirmed in your life? What praise do you receive in performance reviews?

Take time to think carefully about any places where you feel like you’re a bit better than average at something. Go out of your way to ask a few people who know you well what they think your gifts might be.
