For over 25 years, we have been at the forefront of calling men to follow Jesus Christ, and to be men who will have a godly impact in their families, workplaces, churches, and communities. The history of the ministry has been about seeing men come to us—primarily through our men’s conferences. The future is about expanding our impact and influence by being faithful to Jesus’ command—“Go and make disciples.”

Be honest. No one is listening.

We’re all afraid of something. It’s not necessary to give a list of things that men are sometimes afraid of. We all know, deep down, what it is that shivers us, chilling our spine, gripping our chest, and freezing our minds.

God is not surprised by our weariness. It is not necessarily a failure to be tired. Our exhaustion reminds us that we need the strength only God can provide.

If our own strength were enough, we would fall victim to the enticement of self-reliance, a seductive trap at the best of times. It is not sin to be limited in our reserves of energy.

Instead, we are invited to hope in the Lord.

That word, “hope,” entails waiting. That is how some versions translate it.

Life’s comparison trap is indiscriminate.

Men are not immune to it. We measure ourselves against other men. Other husbands, fathers, leaders—all of them provide a lens through which we examine ourselves.

Sometimes the view is pleasing; we find that we are not outmatched on all counts.

Other times, in the bright light that other men seem to shine, we see the men we want to be, the men we believe we could be in our better moments.

One of the heaviest burdens for men is the weight of expectations.

From the small to the great, expectations (real and imagined) add weight to the load that presses men down, forcing us to plod through our days.
