As many of you know, in the fall we communicated that this would be the last year of Socks for Hope. However, after many conversations, brainstorming sessions, and messages of support, we are thrilled to announce that we have heard you. 💛

We are actively working on a plan to streamline our program to keep it sustainable for the future. Socks 2.0 will be coming for 2026! Stay tuned for more!

Thank you Burlington Together, Burlington Helping Burlington & Levie Initiative friends and supporters of our Socks for Hope success in 2025!

You took the time to care about other people's well being and collected socks from friends, family, parishioners, students, clients, socks retailers and more! You offered to drop off sock boxes, pick up socks, sort and count! 😅

To each and every person who volunteered their time and resources to make this year's Socks for Hope Campaign an enormous success... THANK YOU!

This is not the work of one or two people. This is the passion of hundreds of us coming together to collect over 24,000 pairs of socks in 18 days!

This is no small feat (feet).💛

It is inspiring to feel the passion of our community rallying together. And knowing that our socks will make a person feel supported, with a higher level of comfort and safety, with clean, dry socks on their feet.

"A pair of clean and dry socks on a frigid night, living on the streets, can mean survival. Feet that are dry and warm are safer to withstand frost bite and foot disease." Words that will always stay with us from Roger Boyd.

Because of you, warmth is traveling to thousands of individuals in the Halton and Hamilton areas. Thank you for sharing your love and light!! It has been an honour working with you all in 2025. xo Sara & Kendra

As we begin our thank yous, this thought provoking painting by Veniessa Kiddey comes to mind. Look closely and you will see a person giving a pair of socks to a friend in need on a cold and stormy night. Veniessa painted this moment for Angie Richardson of Your Little Bit of Help in our early days, when we collected socks for YLBH's mission to support friends experiencing homelessness on Christmas Day.

Angie gifted us with this treasure in 2025. With gratitude to Veniessa, and to Angie. This memento will serve as a reminder of where we began, the power of coming together for a cause, and also acknowledging the difference that one compassionate person can make in the life of another. 💛

Here is some Student Inspiration to brighten your day!

This is Siraaj Chatha, grade 12 student, and FIRST person in our Socks for Hope history to inspire a socks distributor to donate to our cause.

"I am one of the leaders for my high-school's (Burlington Central High School) Socks-for-Hope (SFH) Charity. It's quite a meaningful cause for our school as well as our community."

Siraaj continues, "This year, to help our community based nonprofit (SFH), we are trying to do something different, reaching out directly to socks manufacturing companies, wholesalers and retailers. This cross-collaboration can also work great for your company’s charity initiatives. We at Burlington central highly believe that the world is held by a thread of harmony where someone is doing something for someone. Also we are trying to connect some threads with this cross-collaboration."

Thanks to Siraaj and his teammate, Ivan Vasilko, and their heartfelt determination, 1000 pairs of socks were donated from sockrocket.ca. That is in addition to their school's generous collection. We are incredibly proud of your efforts, boys! And a warm shout out to Robert Radway, teacher and mentor for Socks for Hope students over the years at Central.

FYI, Sock Rocket started in 2016, and they've donated almost 900,000 pairs of socks to organizations all over Canada and the USA providing clothing to those in need.

Thanks to Siraaj and Ivan, we are fortunate to add Socks for Hope as a grateful recipient of Sock Rocket and Burlington Central's generosity.💛

Stay tuned! Good things take time.💛

WE DID IT! Together, WE COLLECTED 24,427 PAIRS OF NEW SOCKS that have been donated to 12 vital Organizations in the Halton and Hamilton areas.

💛The pics below share the breakdown of how many socks donated, how many sock box hosts, and our distribution channel breakdown for all of you who like numbers as much as we do!

💛These socks go directly to people in need, including individuals who are unhoused, living on the poverty line, friends going through cancer treatments, patients of all kinds, students and families; our neighbors, coworkers, and children at our kids’ schools. Life happens. One day it may be me in need. Another day, it may be you. No one is immune from meeting hard times.

💛We are so thankful for you, our community, for donating a fresh pair of new socks to make someone’s day just a little bit easier. This was an incredible year for Socks for Hope.

We were happy to answer the call from a nonprofit organization that supports newcomers to Canada and people who are in a situation of vulnerability or risk of social exclusion.

Thank you, Catherine Reyes, for introducing us to "This Is Your Home Inc." We were proud to provide 200 pairs of new socks 🧦to their organization's Christmas Event last December.

"Christmas is a familiar and warm season in which families come closer to celebrate their traditions and share a magic moment. However, for most newcomers, this year could be their first Christmas here, and it can be a difficult time in which families could struggle financially. That is why This is Your Home wants to support and make a special event for newcomers and low-income families. We believe that the process of coming to Canada is an opportunity to discover and learn new traditions, meet new people, and make new memories. This was the second year that we hosted a Christmas party for 100 families and 200 kids. It was an amazing moment to meet people, share some gifts to support and celebrate their first Christmas in Canada. Thank you for your contribution of socks."

Sincerely,
Catherine Reyes CEO
