September 30th marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters 🧡

Today, we honour Survivors of residential and day schools, remember the children who never returned home, and stand with their families, communities and First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples across Canada.

Reconciliation is not limited to one day. It is an ongoing commitment to listen, learn, reflect and build meaningful relationships.

We encourage Scouts, Scouters and families to wear orange, learn about the Indigenous peoples and traditional territories where you live and Scout, participate in Indigenous-led events where appropriate, and continue learning from Indigenous voices.

Explore resources, activities and stories to support your learning journey: https://www.scouts.ca/news-and-events/news/2026/09/honouring-indigenous-peoples-truth-and-reconciliation

The Scouts got out on the water at Fairy Lake tonight. It was perfect weather to learn to paddle a canoe! 🛶
As the stars emerged, the youth took turns trying the different roles in the canoe, practising their paddling strokes in the calm water. They also tossed magnet lines out to see if they could recover any metal rubbish from the muddy bottom, doing their part to try and clean out the lake.

A great evening enjoying some outdoor aquatic recreation right here in town.

It was Art Night tonight at 1st Acton Beavers! 🎨🦫

We started the evening outside with a very fun game of tag before heading inside to get creative and prepare for two very special things coming up!

🍎 Apple Day | This Saturday!
Keep an eye out for 1st Acton Scouts around town from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM, handing out FREE apples and thanking our community for supporting Scouting!

🌺 Remembrance Day Poppy Craft
We also got an early start on a special poppy project for Remembrance Day. We wanted to make sure we had lots of time to have them ready, because Remembrance Day is an incredibly important time for us to pause, learn, remember and honour those who served.

A busy night of playing, creating and getting ready for some meaningful moments ahead! ☀️

🦫🦅 Our 1st Acton Beavers had so much fun at Mountsberg Raptor Centre

They got an up-close look at some amazing birds of prey and learned more about the raptors that call Ontario home.

From owls to hawks and more, the Beavers learned about how these incredible birds live, hunt, and survive in the wild, and why protecting their habitats is so important.

A huge thank you to the Mountsberg team for such a fun and educational evening! 🌲🦉
