Across Canada, kids are getting ready to head back to school. New backpacks, new shoes, first day nerves.

In communities where FH Canada works, families are getting ready too. For some, the cost of school supplies is what stands between a child and their first day of class.

A gift of $12 can help provide a school pack for one student, everything they need to walk into class ready to learn.

FH Canada works alongside local partners, families and teachers who want every child to learn well and have more choices as they grow.

Would you help a child get ready for school this year?

Fire. Floods. Drought. All at once.

This Season of Creation, when Christians around the world turn their attention to caring for what God has made, we're praying with families living through the worst of it.

We're praying for Nepal, where flash flooding has taken more than a thousand lives and left thousands of families searching for the people they love.

We’re praying for Assam, in northeast India, where monsoon flooding pushed more than 700,000 people from their homes.

We’re praying for farmers across Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia, where El Niño dry spells have put this year's harvest at risk.

And we’re praying for Guatemala, where communities near the Fuego volcano are returning home to begin again.

Several of these are places FH Canada works.

In the midst of all this destruction, this is what we keep coming back to:

'God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.' - Psalm 46:1-3

"To graduate communities from poverty in 10 years" isn't just a promise. It takes rigorous, ethical, community-led systems behind it, and that's exactly what our new Program Quality and Impact Advisor will help build.

We're hiring for our International Programs team: a technical leader in MEAL, gender equality, or program design who's ready to shape strategy, not just execute it. Someone who can translate complexity into clarity including Global Affairs Canada results frameworks and the community-led data practices that put partners in charge of defining their own success.

7–10+ years of experience, a builder's mindset, and a genuine belief that communities know best. Sound like you?

Tahera was 14 when she became a child bride. Just like that, her childhood was over, replaced by a household to run and a future she hadn't chosen.

Years later, the Child Marriage No More project reached her community, and Tahera showed up for every meeting. Something in her changed. She started fighting for a different story, beginning with her own daughters.

Today her oldest is preparing for university. Her two younger daughters are on track to finish high school. Marriage-free, all three.

Tahera is still advocating, one girl, one family, one community at a time. That's what graduating a community from poverty actually looks like.

Thank you for being part of something extraordinary. Your faithful monthly giving has transformed lives, built communities, and created lasting change. Now, we're inviting you to lean into an even broader impact.

As FH Canada looks ahead to the next five years, we're stepping into a new season. Our renewed purpose statement captures the heart of it: "We embolden communities on their pathway to hope-filled and resilient futures."

We are preparing to build on what we know works, long-term partnership grounded in dignity, mutual trust, and local ownership. By 2030, our goal is to support the flourishing of 600,000 people each year.

Our President & CEO, Musu Taylor-Lewis, walks through the full vision in a longer conversation on our Food for the Hungry Canada YouTube channel, where you can watch it in full: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqVvBHkg50c&t=41s

Together, we're changing what's possible in Leka Dulecha.

This week, we're celebrating the progress of a community in Ethiopia. 100 members of an Education Working Group, including teachers, school directors, and parents, came together to advocate for education. Their efforts encouraged more families to send their kids back to class.

And that's just the start:

➡️ 50 teachers trained in literacy and numeracy
➡️ 200 youth trained in reproductive health
➡️ 150 people trained in emergency health response
➡️ 90 people trained in maternal and child nutrition

Behind every statistic is a person who is now able to show up better equipped for their family and their community.

This is what happens when a community is trusted to lead its own transformation, and when Journey Partners like you make it possible. Thank you for your partnership. 💚

Guatemala needs rain.

Right now, our partners on the ground are asking us to pray for rain.
Guatemala relies on agriculture, and without rain there's no harvest. No harvest means empty tables for families who are already working so hard to build a better future.

Would you join us in praying today? Pray that God sends rain to the fields of Guatemala, that the soil gets what it needs, and that the families who depend on it are provided for.

Tag someone who prays with you, or drop a 🙏 below if you're praying along.

We don't just show up with a plan… we show up and ask what's already working.

That’s the difference between handing a community a solution and walking alongside them while they build one that works for them.

Our approach is simple, but it's not easy:

➡️ Community-centred — local leaders design and own the solutions. We're in it for long-term relationships, not a quick fix.
➡️ Gender-equitable — power shifts to the people who need it most. Women and girls get equal access to resources and to leadership.
➡️ Results-focused — priorities come from the community, and progress gets measured by data and lived experience, side by side.

It’s how FH Canada works towards our goal: graduating communities from poverty in 10 years.

None of it happens without people willing to stay the course. Journey Partners give monthly so local leadership can keep leading for years.

One meal a day. That was Doreen's reality in Uganda — until training through FH Canada changed everything.

Last year, with the support of 456 Canadians, we helped equip 9,793 people with the skills to grow their own food, care for livestock, and build a steady income.

The results are showing up in real, measurable ways:

🌾 In Uganda, 210 trained farmer groups have already passed their knowledge on to 3,451 more people.

“My family only ate one meal a day. I was sad
and lonely until I got involved in farmer training.
Now, my farming provides me with a permanent
house and food. Today, I have joy!
” — Doreen, Uganda

This is what happens when a gift becomes a skill. When relief becomes resilience.
