An Afternoon in Paradiso is excited to present 2016 Oktoberfest!! It will be an evening of craft beers, wine, food, musical entertainment. Proceeds from this event will again go towards supporting our local Abbotsford Hospital Cancer Unit. We anticipate the 2016 Oktoberfest has the potential to raise over $40,000!! % of your donations should stay in our community. Our local organization is sustained by a group of passionate volunteers who have dedicated the last 6 years to raising $256,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation - Abbotsford Branch. Through the generosity of the sponsors and volunteers, our contributions has purchased invaluable and technologically advanced items to the BC Cancer Agency.
2011-Clinical Trials
Contributing to innovative treatment for patients with breast, prostate, lung, colon and pancreatic cancer, as well as palliative pain control.
2012-Pelvis Belly Board
Assists with patient positioning in order to reduce the dose to the patient's intestines during radiation treatment.
2013-Gastroscope
This thin, flexible instrument enables oncologists to deliver precise High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy radiation treatment to patients with esophageal cancer. HDR brachytherapy avoids surrounding tissues and sends a precise dose of radiation directly to the tumor.
2014-The Olympus Tower
This provides oncologists with ability to view and record high-resolution images to assist with the precise planning of brachytherapy.
2015-Patient and Family Resource Centre
The resource/education centre will be a focal point for information and would help empower our patients, families and caregivers as well as the public to make informed decisions and become active partners in their health care. The information available would be reliable, relevant and up to date and would address all aspects of cancer and community supports.
