As of 21 August, H5 Avian Influenza has been reported in Sugarloaf Reserve in Christmas Hills.

If you see sick or dead birds or wildlife:
✅ Avoid contact with sick or dead wild birds, other wildlife, and their environments.
✅ Record what you see, including the location, date, number of animals affected, and any visible symptoms.
✅ Report wildlife illness or deaths to DEECA using the https://forms.bio.vic.gov.au/wildlife-influenza-investigation or by calling the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

We know people care deeply about wildlife and want to help when they see an animal in distress.

Reports should only be made for:
🔵 Clusters of five or more sick or dead wild birds of any species anywhere in Victoria.
🔵 A single sick or dead:
- wild seabird, waterbird, shorebird or bird of prey
- marine mammal (such as a seal, sea lion or dolphin).

Following a report, the Department of Energy, Environement and Climate Action (DEECA) will assess the information provided and determine whether testing is required.

🐾💙Pep Pals Community Pantry Drop-Off

Pep Pals has just dropped off some goodies at the Seville Community Pantry for our local furry friends. 🐶🐱
Please take what you need

We’ve dropped off:
• Cat food & treats
• Dog food & treats
• A couple of dog jackets
• New dog toys
• New dog leads

A little bit of support can make a big
difference, especially when times are tough.

🎄🐾 IT’S COMING BACK… AND THIS YEAR WE WANT TO MAKE IT BIGGER THAN EVER! 🐾🎄

After the amazing support we received last year, Pep Pals’ Christmas Animal Toy Drive is returning for 2026! 💙

What started with Mackenzie wanting to make sure animals in shelters had something special to open at Christmas has grown into something truly incredible.
This year, we want to go bigger and better than last year and reach even more shelters, rescues and animals waiting for their forever homes. 🐶🐱🐰

We’ll be sharing more details soon about donation drop-off points, what we’re collecting and how you can get involved.

For now, help us start spreading the word! Share this post, tell your friends, workplaces, schools and local businesses — let’s make Christmas 2026 one to remember for animals in need! 🎁🐾❤️

Since pep pals started in November 2025 we have done so much and couldn’t have done it without the amazing support from our beloved community
We did our amazing Christmas animal toy drive where we donated 3 Santa sacks to animal shelters so cats and dogs could have a gift for Christmas.
Out through the fire season we helped a number of wildlife shelters where we had 4 car loads of supplies from medical to Joey pouches, bat wrap etc, enclosure and blankets delivered to Warriors 4 wildlife and a run to Geelong to Bushlife wildlife rescue and support. Who we are so grateful to be connected to this wonderful organisations.
We have managed to put pet food in the Seville community pantry which we continue to do.
We have passed on knitted little jumpers to a dog rescue in the local area
And the journey continues…. We definitely won’t stop there
As we come into our second year we will be doing our toy drive again and continue supporting wildlife shelters and the community, as Pep Pals grows the more we can do to support animals in need and the people who look after them.

Pep Pals was created to support all creatures, great and small, in times of need — with kindness, care, and community at the heart of everything we do. 🐾🩷

🐾 Pep Pals is putting the call out to support a local wildlife shelter in Belgrave. 💚
We're hoping our amazing community can once again help us make a difference by donating any of the following items:

🧺 Laundry liquid
🍼 Animal milk
🌾 Oats
🥕 Carrots
🍠 Sweet potatoes
🍎 Apples
Every donation, big or small, helps care for injured and orphaned wildlife. Your kindness goes a long way in supporting the incredible carers who work tirelessly to give these animals a second chance.
📍 Donations can be dropped off at KP Fitness in Wandin, or Pep Pals is happy to arrange collection if you're unable to drop them off.

Thank you for helping us support our local wildlife and the amazing carers who look after them. Together, we can make a real difference. 🦘🐨💚
