HAY THERE! WE LOVE THIS! 💙

How amazing is this creation from the Scenic Rim in Queensland! Every year, the township of Kalbar holds a Hay Bale Decorating Competition, and this year local resident Susan Land has created something very special to help raise awareness for brain cancer.

Susan's mum was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Glioblastoma (GBM) brain tumour two years ago, making this cause incredibly close to her heart.

Sporting an oversized MHF beanie and a big smile, this hay bale is spreading a powerful message of hope and reminding everyone to NEVER GIVE UP!

A huge thank you to Susan for putting so much thought, creativity and heart into this wonderful display. We absolutely LOVE it!

Today is World Cancer Research Day.

We want to acknowledge and thank the researchers, clinicians, trial teams and research organisations across Australia who continue to work towards better treatments and better outcomes for people affected by brain tumours. Their work gives patients and families something incredibly important: progress, possibility and hope.

At Head to the Hill 2026, we’ll hear directly from two leaders working to advance brain cancer research in Australia:

🔬 Dr Kim Wark, Head of Research at the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation, who will speak about the importance of research investment and collaboration, particularly for children and young people affected by brain cancer.

🔬 Professor Mike Fay from the Mark Hughes Foundation, who will share insights into the current research landscape and the work underway to accelerate progress for people diagnosed with brain cancer.

Their perspectives will be an important part of the conversation at Parliament House as patients, carers, families, researchers, clinicians, advocates and decision-makers come together to ask: what needs to happen next?

Research has delivered progress — but for too many people affected by brain tumours, progress is still not happening quickly enough.

On 14 October, our community will come together at Parliament House with One Voice. One Community. One National Call to Action.

We need more shoes for Head to the Hill 2026.

In the weeks before Head to the Hill, we carefully and respectfully sort the shoes and the stories behind them. The hardest are the tiny ones — baby shoes, children’s shoes and those belonging to young people whose lives have been changed or cut short by a brain tumour.

Head to the Hill is about advocacy, but it is also about remembering.

Our kids matter. They still matter even when they are no longer here.

Every pair helps show the enormous impact brain tumours have on our community and allows your loved one to become part of the Head to the Hill legacy.

Everyone matters. Every story matters. Every pair of shoes tells a story.

We need to do better.

The Sharks are deeply saddened by the passing of Graham Robinson, one of the men who helped start it all.

A few beers at the Terrigal Pub and an idea to start a footy club, Graham helped build the foundations of the Sharkies family we know today.

From those first five teams to thousands of Sharkies who have followed, Graham’s legacy will forever be part of our club.
