We’re excited to share a short film featuring Mohamed and his family, who recently joined our Central Coast community. Their journey from Syria to Australia hasn’t been easy, but it’s been met with courage — and support from locals walking alongside them.

The film shows what community sponsorship looks like here on the Coast: people supporting people, and a community helping a family feel at home.

🌟 Final Fundraiser Update – We Raised $20,000! 🌟

We are absolutely thrilled to share that, after finalising the numbers, Art with Heart raised an incredible AU$20,000 for Coastal CRISP! 🎉✨

This wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing community—every single artist, donor, volunteer, and supporter who contributed. Your generosity and kindness have made a real, lasting impact.

Even more exciting, we’re so happy to share that the family we’ve been supporting has finally been able to move to Gosford last week — their preferred location and a goal they’ve been working towards. This is a huge milestone for them, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our wonderful community!

To our wonderful Coastal CRISP community, volunteers, and supporters, we cannot thank you enough for making Art with Heart such a huge success! Your generosity and enthusiasm made this event truly special.

🎨 Introducing Margaret Fortey at Art with Heart

Margaret Fortey is a celebrated artist recognized for her unique silk painting techniques. Born in New Zealand and largely self-taught, Margaret has enriched her craft with short stints at East Sydney TAFE and the Sydney Gallery School. Her captivating works have won numerous awards and are showcased in exhibitions and galleries across Australia and internationally, including Canada, Japan, Korea, England, New Zealand, and the USA.

Margaret’s art brings the Australian landscape to life with its vibrant colors, deep reflections, and subtle beauty. Her desire is to reawaken an appreciation for the simple pleasures of nature in a world often preoccupied with materialism. By exploring various mediums such as oils, acrylics, and etchings, she continues to create thought-provoking pieces that reflect her passion for the natural world.

🎨 Introducing Rachel Lucas at Art with Heart

Rachel Lucas’s ceramics are guided by the rhythms of the earth and the stories whispered by the landscapes she encounters. The colors of the land, the flow of water, and the patterns etched by time inspire her unique forms and finishes.

Working with stoneware and porcelain, Rachel combines wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques to create shapes and textures that evoke the essence of the places she has explored and the people she has met along the way. Her work celebrates the beauty, fragility, and resilience of the earth, offering a grounding joy in being present in the world.

🎨 Nicole de Mestre-artist at Art with Heart

Nicole de Mestre transforms the discarded into the extraordinary. Sourcing inspiration from kerbside pick-up piles and her crowded studio, Nicole’s art challenges the prolific waste of modern society. Her works carry a nostalgic attachment to the past and a passionate environmental ethos, combining recycled materials and found objects into eclectic creations.

A TAFE-trained artist with a Visual Arts degree, Nicole has held five solo exhibitions and has been a finalist in both North Sydney and Gosford Art Prizes. Her sculptures have graced Woollahra Small Sculpture, Sculpture at Sawmillers, and Sculpture at Scenic World, among other prestigious events.

Represented by KAB Gallery in Terrigal and Pymble, Nicole continues to inspire with her innovative approach to sustainability in art.

🎨 Introducing Russell Austin at Art with Heart

Russell Austin’s art is a journey of discovery, desire, and language, where each piece communicates emotions or significant concepts with a unique twist. Based on the Central Coast since 1985, Russell’s works have graced exhibitions from Sydney to New Zealand and even collections in Japan.

A celebrated muralist and oil painting teacher at Gosford Gallery Studios, Russell draws inspiration from the natural world. His latest collection reimagines local coastlines and the Taranaki region in New Zealand, weaving light and form into compelling narratives of place and being.
