Adelaide, please join us in congratulating Dr Messy! 🎉

We're delighted to celebrate Dr Messy as the newest graduate of the Royal College of Clowns and a fully-fledged Clown Doctor in our Adelaide Team.

Becoming a Clown Doctor is no easy feat. After a rigorous audition process, every performer undertakes our intensive Clownternship program, gaining hands-on experience across more than 50 hospital visits.

Throughout the journey, Dr Messy has been supported and mentored by Dr Fancy Pants, Dr Yum-Yum and Dr Bananas helping develop the skills, confidence and artistry needed to bring moments of joy and connection to children in hospital.

Thanks to the support of Hyundai Help for Kids, Dr Messy will receive a personalised red nose through the Clown Nose Project, marking the transition from Clowntern to fully fledged Clown Doctor.

Congratulations, Dr Messy! We're thrilled to have you bringing your unique brand of mischief, imagination and joy to children, families and healthcare teams in Adelaide 🩷 ️🤡

Say hello to Freddie 🎈

Freddie is one of our Victorian Laughter Care Specialists and a multidisciplinary artist who has spent more than 45 years bringing together dance, music and theatre in creative and unexpected ways. From festivals and public spaces to long-running collaborative arts projects, his work is driven by a deep belief in the power of creativity, play, empathy and humour to bring people together.

Since joining Clown Doctors Australia in 2012, Freddie has been passionate about creating meaningful moments alongside older people living in aged care. He also works closely with aged care staff providing training and support to use creativity as part of everyday care.

For Freddie, the older person is always the start of the interaction. By following their lead and responding in the moment, he creates opportunities for connection, creativity and self-expression. It’s a simple approach that can have profound impact, helping people feel seen, valued and connected ✨

🎵 A ukulele, a deck of cards, a few colouring pencils and two Clown Doctors walked into Cherbourg...

What followed were moments of laughter, creativity and connection between children, families, healthcare staff and our Clown Doctors, Dr O'Dear and Dr Wobble 🩷

As part of Clown Doctors on Tour, they spent time sharing songs, games, stories and playful interactions, helping to transform the Deadly Ears outreach clinic into a place where children could relax, engage and simply enjoy being children.

As the visit progressed, healthcare staff saw firsthand the difference these moments were making. What began as introductions soon became invitations, with clinicians encouraging the Clown Doctors to become more involved in the clinic experience and recognising the positive impact they were having on children and families.

Thanks to Hyundai Help for Kids, we're proud to be bringing laughter, play and connection to regional communities through Clown Doctors on Tour. We are looking forward to packing our red noses and heading to Mt Isa later this year 🚐🤡🩷

The first leg of the 2026 Clown Doctors on Tour is done and dusted! 🚙💨

Last week, Dr O’Dear and Dr Wobble hit the road, bringing laughter and joy to the town of Cherbourg in Queensland.

Throughout the tour, and with the incredible support of Hyundai Help for Kids, our team are visiting both towns of Cherbourg and Mt Isa, supporting two Deadly Ears surgical clinics.

Deadly Ears is Queensland Health's statewide hearing health program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children, focused on reducing the impact of middle ear disease and hearing loss.

Thank you, Hyundai Help for Kids, for enabling us to continue to share the uplifting power of humour with children and families across regional and remote Queensland ✨🩷

‘Dr Wonky made Annaliese feel so special at her routine checkup at The Children's Hospital at Westmead today. The Clown Doctors have transformed our hospital visits from difficult and traumatic experiences into something she really looks forward to. Annaliese says the Clown Doctors make her feel safe and they make the hospital fun. She now loves going to hospital because she knows the Clown Doctors will be there.’

Say hello to Dr Sherbet 🎈

Dr Sherbet trained at London’s Rose Bruford School of Speech and Drama and has spent her career bringing stories, music and laughter to audiences around the world. From community theatre and one-woman shows to performing as the vibrant SiSi in Tasmanian band SiSi and the Sonics, she’s passionate about creating joyful moments that bring people together.

As part of our Tasmanian Clown Doctor Team, Dr Sherbet loves fillings the halls of Royal Hobart Hospital with music, movement and imagination. She loves creating songs with patients, exploring magical and unexpected worlds, and sharing moments of physical fun that spark laughter, connection and a sense of wonder.

For Dr Sherbet, the greatest privilege is connecting with children and families during some of life's most challenging moments. Through laughter, play and a little lightness, she loves helping create space for joy, comfort and connection ✨

This week marks Loneliness Awareness Week, a national reminder of the growing need for connection, especially for older people experiencing social isolation or the challenges of dementia.

Connection can take many forms ✨A shared laugh. A familiar song. A moment of recognition. A simple interaction that reminds someone they are seen, valued and understood.

Through humour, creativity and genuine human presence, our Laughter Care Specialists help create these moments every day. Across aged care homes and hospitals, they foster connection, spark joy and support wellbeing for residents, families and care staff alike.
