Before the start of a few members of our team met with advisor Calvin to discuss Kuringgai/Bradfield’s support for at a federal level, discussing Together We Can poll of Bradfield which showed 74% of voters believe the federal government needs to be doing more to address climate change. We also passed on over 30 personally written messages that we had collected at markets pre-lockdown from you all (we will be collecting more soon). Our team was happy to continue the dialogue surrounding bipartisan solutions to Climate Change and the Australian Climate Dividend Plan. 🌱🌏

We welcome the Federal Government commitment to a Net Zero by 2050 target. ⠀⠀
But we need a lasting political commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 that also requires:⠀
🌳. Genuine bipartisanship (meaning an end to the climate wars)⠀
🌳. An accountability framework that is federally legislated ⠀
🌳 Interim emissions reduction targets that are more ambitious than 26-28% by 2030⠀⠀

In the most comprehensive climate poll to date every electorate had a majority of respondents saying climate change is an important issue for them. Our electorate Bradfield voted 70% as important or most important issue to them.

The gravity of the situation laid out in the (IPCC) report blows away blustering over the supposed costs of climate action. In any case, not acting will cost far more.

For those governments and businesses that still chose inaction, the IPCC report may well end up being used as key evidence against them in real courtrooms 🌏
