Have you tried the UFO from Bubl Co at Mumford Barn, Old Petrie Town?

Unlike their indulgent bubble waffles, the UFO is a tasty toasted sandwich filled with ham, cheese and egg... with a twist! Perfect if you’re after something a little less hard on the sweet tooth.

Definitely worth a try if you’re visiting Old Petrie Town.

A wonderful start to Book Week in Samford last Saturday with Pages in the Park. Dozens of local authors gathered to share their books, stories and passion for writing with the community.

Despite the rain, the crowds still turned out, proving how much our community values books, learning and the arts.

Congratulations to everyone involved in organising the event and helping showcase the incredible talent we have right here in Moreton Bay.

Check out this fun!

Local kids are already enjoying the new Dayboro Dirt Jump track ahead of an “official” opening.

I wanted to give the community an update:

- The jumps are finished and safe to ride on. Huge thanks to Trailworx the contractor that worked with council to make this happen!
- Additional services will be added to the site pending UnityWater’s availability to connect water at the site. We will then be able to install bubbler, bins and bollards.
- Some additional tree planting and landscaping is still to come too.

We didn’t think it was worth keeping the kids away from the fun while we wait for these other contractors, but it does mean users will need to keep the site clean and tidy by removing their own rubbish and keep themselves healthy by bringing a water bottle with them.

And before anyone asks about the skate park, I am continuing to follow up with our project managers on that. I understand a new contractor is in place and they will be progressing work soon. I’m not silly enough to give a timeframe for completion as this project just never ceases to disappoint on any timeframe given. Needless to say, the team knows what a big priority it is for me and for the Dayboro community.

We all know and love Old Petrie Town for the markets and heritage buildings, but most overlook the huge community effort over decades that has gone into protecting and enhancing the natural aspects of the site.

The Old Petrie Town Bushcare group meets every Thursday morning to help care for this beautiful riverside habitat along the North Pine River. Volunteers assist with weeding around native plants and protecting an important wildlife corridor for koalas and other local species.

If you’d like to lend a hand and learn a whole lot about native plants and weeds you’ll be guided by some incredibly experienced volunteer leaders.

New volunteers are always welcome.

Email [email protected] for more information or head down and introduce yourself from 7:30am - 9:30am, meeting near the North Pine Potters.
