We live in suburbs in Dickson, including Petrie, Bridgeman Downs, Dayboro, Samford, Warner, Strathpine, Albany Creek, and Ferny Hills. We are e

veryday people who want to change things for the better. We plan to follow the rough pathway set out by the likes of Voices for Indi, Voices of Warringah, Voices of Groom and the other community independents.

It's nice to see Laura Tingle asking meaningful questions of politicians and giving thoughtful analysis.

"Grand Coalition strategy not clear
The unkind might summarise the Coalition's cost of living policy as non-existent, particularly when Dutton not only initially objected to the reconstructed tax cuts last year but also most of the cost of living relief that the government has introduced in areas like childcare and energy bills."

The Coalition seems to be relying on the disgruntlement of voters with the government over tough times, rather than actively producing serious policies to do anything about it.

Laura Tingle examines Mr Dutton's claims about migration and cutting the public service.

Worth a look.

Starts at 12 minutes.

Los Angeles wildfire victims are now dealing with an insurance crisis. A deal for a ceasefire in Gaza is reported to be close. Plus doctors say many Australians aren't aware of the links between alcohol and cancer.

Yeah. This is worth reading.

Then ask yourself if the two big parties will deal with it. If they have people who will make hard decisions

Most people are putting effort into countering climate action. People in Dickson care about their kids.

I’ve been writing about climate change for years. I know my graphs won’t change minds, but facts matter

Just a reminder.
If your local member is making a big deal about flags, citizenship, woke CEOs or what day Australia day should be....

They're prioritising that over your cost of living problems.

Never seen so many homeless in Dickson.

What are your priorities?

So, its being reported that Dayboro day won't happen this year.

Cost prohibitive and not enough volunteers or organizers.

Much praise to those who've put in lots of hard work and made a great event in past years. Perhaps a lower key event might suit everyone better.

Community is a funny thing, you get back what you put in. If you've never volunteered in your community it's worth trying.

Great article by Cathy McGowan about community independents.

"We put community at the centre of everything we do,” Heise says. “We walk the talk of being the change we want to see."

It's about what the community want. Not about sledging the incumbent.

I’m standing in Yulecart Memorial Hall on the Dartmoor-Hamilton Road, just west of Hamilton, Victoria. The building is 100 years old, made of bluestone and well used to community action. On the front wall are gold-printed honour rolls recording leaders of the town’s tennis club, members of its w...

Social media platforms have an obligation to halt disinformation that is damaging to our society

Journalists have an obligation to check facts before publishing. A journalist shouldn't need fact checking

Most Australians are tired of disinformation

Halting disinformation is not equivalent to censorship.

Australians are generally skeptical of those who wish to spread falsehoods and then claim they are being censored.

Numerous studies have shown that fact checking has helped reduce the spread of misinformation and disinformation online.

If you have any doubts about why Labor doesn't want to pass "truth in political advertising" legislation - it's so they can do things like this.

If you want truth in political advertising, you might consider supporting community independent candidates.

The truth is Labor approved 3 significant coal mine extensions on the same day they posted this.

Many people find themselves homeless. It's really hard for them.
If someone has become homeless and they have a pet, most of us understand how that can provide them some comfort.

The way we treat homeless people and the way we treat animals reflects on us and our community.

People in Dickson are sick of politicians (from both sides) timing the release of reports or costings for their political advantage.

We want better from our politicians.

The opposition finally unveiled its much-promised nuclear energy costings on Friday. It will be hoping Labor continues to prove it is not very good at politics.
