Announcing UQ History Society’s next event, the ✨History Industry Night✨

Join us at the UQ Anthropology Museum this Thursday, the 30th of April, to learn about heaps of exciting career pathways within history. The event will feature a panel discussion with professionals working in academia 🧐, cultural heritage 🏘️, archives 📜, libraries📚, and education 🧑‍🏫 within Brisbane. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions about what these professionals do and how they got there.

When: Thursday 30th April, 2026
Time: 5pm
Where: UQ Anthropology Museum

🍕Some food will be provided at 6pm, after the panel !!

Reintroducing the return of the Grand HASS Trivia🎉! Join us for an exciting night full of fun and friendly competition! Test your knowledge to bring honour to your society, may the best club win 🏆!

We will meet at 5pm on the great court for pizza to fuel our minds before the competition begins. Then we ready our teams for a kahoot battle of the minds at 6pm, meeting in Steele Building 03-329

Join us this Thursday March 12th for a look into Brisbane’s rich history with a tour of the heritage listed, South Brisbane Cemetery at Dutton Park. This after dark tour will guide us through the stories of Brisbane legends and civilians alike. Free tickets are available through the link in our bio for UQHS members only 🔗

So what is the plan for the evening?
1.🍕A Pizza dinner will be served at 6pm at the Pizza Caffe on the UQ St Lucia Campus.
2.🚶We will then walk as a group from Chancellors place (departing at 7pm), through the Great Court and Campbell Place, past UQ Lakes and over the Eleanor Schonell Bridge. You are welcome to join us at any point of this walk if you are not coming for Pizza beforehand. We will make this same route back after the tour to ensure everyone can get to their transport safely.

Requirements for the tour:
- Closed in shoes 👟
- Ability to follow a Grade 3 walking track 🚶‍➡️
- BYO torch 🔦

While we understand excitement for this event, it must be remembered that this is a resting place and the expectation is that attendees offer the utmost respect to the place and the people buried there. Beyond the standard respectful behaviour, it is insisted upon by the organisers that there are no costumes to be worn.

Walk: 7pm — From Chancellors
Tour: 7:30pm — South Brisbane Cemetery
Return: 9:30pm — Ending at Chancellors Place
Bring a torch & Please be respectful

We hope to see you all there and are looking forward to getting attendees feedback as this is a new event that we will consider running again.
