Make sure you visit Redcliffe Art Gallery to see RASart 2026. Congratulations to all the winners and to the finalists. So many great works in fact 60 paintings, a real visual feast. The photos shared here do not do the works justice and are only the 1st place winners (please forgive me if I have missed anyone) so do yourself a favour and visit in person. The exhibition runs from 12 June to 11 July and the gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm. Make sure you vote for the People's Choice, your chance at being the judge.

"Painter, Potter & Felter Exhibition" at the RAS from June 10th until July 5th. Viewer, you are invited to join Denis Barnes, Bill Cotching, and Judy Cotching on their newest artistic journey!

This exhibition is a shared conversation among friends, and an exploration of techniques, motivations and stories.

The three artists might do their work in solitude, but they often gather over coffee to exchange experiences – both from their lives as well as from the processes of making art. The fruit of their explorations can be seen in the gallery. The exhibition opening is on Saturday, June 13th at 1 pm.

To celebrate the launch of our new Soft Pastel Class, we will be offering the first session as a free introductory information evening for anyone who would like to attend, learn more about soft pastels, and decide whether the class is right for them!

This session will be held on Monday 1st June from 4:30pm–7:30pm in Studio 1.

No materials are required for this session. Please notify Sienna if you would like to attend, as seating is limited.

During the evening, we will explore the various brands and options available for soft pastel work, including pan pastels, pastel sticks, and pastel pencils, as well as the qualities of some of the most popular pastel papers and surfaces. We will also discuss lightfastness and archival considerations for professional-quality artwork.

Sienna will bring along a selection of pastels and papers to demonstrate the main differences between materials, and provide guidance on choosing supplies suited to your own tastes, goals, and budget.

There will also be individual sheets of Art Spectrum Colourfix pastel paper, small sample pieces of Clairefontaine Pastelmat available for purchase, and a range of pastels available for you to try.

For those who are ready to dive in and would like to bring along the supplies they already own, there will also be an introductory project and demonstration covering:
• choosing a strong reference image
• planning and transferring your image
• beginner-friendly pastel techniques and tips to get you started

For those who simply want to come along, have a look, and see whether pastel work is your cup of tea, you are welcome to stay for as little or as long as you like.

We hope to see you there!

Would you like to learn how to capture the beauty of nature with a brush and a bit of paint?

Bookings are now open for our next watercolour workshop with Melbourne based artist and tutor, Rehan Vazid.

This workshop guides participants into the nuances of glow, that magical sense of light emerging from within a painting. Through structured demos and exercises, artists will explore colour theory, blending, edge control and the restraint needed to not overwork and let your watercolour shine. Suitable for all levels.
