INFORMATION RECEIVED ABOUT MEDICARE BULK BILLING CHANGES:

We’re reaching out on behalf of the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to share a resource kit about recent changes to bulk billing.
As you may be aware, the Australian Government is investing in strengthening Medicare, making it easier for Australians to find a bulk billing GP. The new incentives support GPs to bulk bill Medicare-eligible patients, with more GPs now offering bulk billing services.
These changes are helping to make healthcare more affordable, with patients and families expected to save hundreds of dollars each year in out-of-pocket costs.
In the coming weeks we’ll be providing you with some additional information about other important health initiatives, including Medicare Urgent Care Clinics and access to cheaper medicines (PBS).
To support this, we’ve developed a resource kit to help you understand how your community and members can benefit from these changes and how to inform them of the changes.
You can access the resource kit here: Bulk Billing Information Kit.
It includes information about bulk billing, printable resources, and newsletter content that you can use in your own communication channels.
Ready-to-use social media tiles can also be downloaded here: Bulk Billing Social Media content.
As an organisation that engages directly with older Australians and their families, it would be wonderful if you could consider sharing these resources across your community.
We also have printed postcards available, featuring a QR code that allows people to quickly find their nearest bulk billing clinic. Please let us know if you would like to receive postcards (or any other printed materials).
Please also let us know if you would like any further information or if you have any questions.
With many thanks,
Alex

Bulk billing is now becoming more accessible for all Australians. The Australian Government has expanded eligibility for MBS bulk billing incentives and established the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program meaning more GPs are now offering bulk billed appointments for Medicare-eligible patients.
