The rain held off!

We took a great bunch of teens beachcombing today. We found two catshark eggcases!

The lucky discoverers will be uploading their finds to "The Great Eggcase Hunt Australia". This is a citizen science initiative by the , supported by CSIRO in Australia. 🦈🦈🦈

School holidays are almost here! We are running a beachcombing session just for teens (ages 14-18). 🦀🐡🐚🪸

Ever wondered what the ocean leaves behind?
Get up close with shark eggs, seahorses, sea urchins, shells and other curious marine treasures, then join an ocean science communicator for a beachcombing adventure to discover what the tide has brought in!

Date: Friday 9 October 2026 (second week of the school holidays)
Time: 10-11am (It is optional for parents/carers to stay FOC)
Location: Mettams Pool
276 West Coast Dr, North Beach Western Australia
We provide: ID resources and beachcombing equipment
Cost: $20

Everyone REALLY got into it!

Blue Crew had the pleasure of running an art and ocean science mash up event. We had a ball with all of these creative ocean lovers!

We had an amazing time with all of our ocean loving teens, Ocean Institute Student Society (OISS) members, guest speakers and Blue Crew team. Our Youth Ocean Careers event was definitely a success!

Thank you to Inspiring Western Australia for making this possible. We were able to showcase the importance of our ocean connections to STEM opportunities in the growing blue economy.

We are looking forward to tomorrow's Ocean Careers Evening at the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre. The event is fully booked out!

This event showcases the diversity of marine-focused careers and highlights the significance of STEM to a wide range of jobs in Western Australia’s growing blue economy. We are looking forward to meeting all of our youth participants tomorrow.

We have amazing speakers lined up for tomorrow for our round-robin sessions. Our teens will get a chance to meet all of them, hear their career stories and get tips for "getting their foot" in the door. We will also be using creative ways to look at our connections to the ocean and the exciting ocean careers of the future

It's great to be working with Oceans Institute Student Society and Inspiring Western Australia to make this event possible.

We had a few requests about expanding the age range. It is now open to teens ages 14-18.
