A free, safe, gentle, and empowering 8-Week Wellness Program for Women After Breast Cancer

ENCORE is a FREE, 8-week program for women who’ve experienced breast cancer - whether recently or many years ago. Each 2-hour session includes gentle pool and land-based exercises, relaxation, and educational support in a friendly, small group environment.

After months of planning, fundraising and getting our wonderful community together, Walk for ENCORE is happening tomorrow!

We can’t wait to see everyone at Bar Beach for a beautiful morning of walking, connection and supporting women after breast cancer.

Before you head out the door, here’s a little reminder of everything you need to know:

📅 When: Saturday 31 October 2026
📍 Where: Empire Park, Bar Beach, Newcastle
⏰ Arrival: From 7:30am
👟 Walk starts: 8:00am
🚶‍♀️ Distance: 3km along the beautiful Newcastle coastline
🐶 Dogs: Welcome! Just remember to keep them on a leash.

A few things to remember:
☀ Wear your Walk for ENCORE T-shirt!
☀ Bring a water bottle, sunscreen and a hat.
☀ Wear comfortable walking shoes.
☀ Bring the kids! We’ve got some fun surprises waiting for them along the route.
☀ Don’t forget to check out the coffee, food, face painting, merchandise and other activities on the day!

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone come together for a fantastic morning.

If you spot a pink tutu and sweatband at Walk for ENCORE, chances are you've found Yela! 💗👟

Meet Yela, one of our wonderful ENCORE instructors who's been part of the YWCA Hunter team for 8 years!

This year, Yela will be taking centre stage before we set off, leading our walkers through a fun warm-up to get everyone moving and ready for the 3km walk.

And knowing Yela, we suspect there'll be plenty of energy, laughs and a fabulous pink outfit involved!
We can't wait to have her kicking off the morning with us.

ONE WEEK UNTIL WALK FOR ENCORE! 👟

We are officially on the home stretch!

If you’re joining us next Saturday, here’s everything you need to know before you arrive:

📍 Where: Empire Park, at the corner of Bar Beach Avenue and Memorial Drive.
🚗 Parking: Parking is available at the Bar Beach Carpark (111 Memorial Drive, Bar Beach NSW 2300).
⏰ Arrival: 7:30am
👟 Walk starts: 8am
🎒 Bring: Make sure to wear comfy walking shoes and bring a water bottle. Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and something for the weather, just in case it rains.

LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TO GO! 👟

Walk for ENCORE is getting very close, and thanks to our incredible walkers, fundraisers and supporters, we’ve already raised $15,851 towards our $30,000 goal!

But we’re not there yet.

Every dollar raised through Walk for ENCORE helps us continue offering our eight-week ENCORE breast cancer recovery program free of charge to women across the Hunter.

So, with two weeks to go, we’re asking our community to get behind us.
