Did you know Home in Place operates two community hubs?

The Meeting Place on the Central Coast and the 123 Community Hub in Broken Hill!

Last week, Stacey and Emily from 123 Community Hub made the trip east to visit the team at The Meeting Place, share ideas and chat with locals.

This will allow both hubs to continue to grow together, better serving their local communities 🏡

“The most likely outcome is that Australian housing will remain exceptionally expensive by historical standards for the foreseeable future.”

Home in Place’s Group Executive Manager Marketing and Public Affairs, Martin Kennedy, has highlighted the consequences of rising house prices for younger Australians.

Speaking to News.com.au, Martin warned that future generations could struggle to afford houses in areas once home to working families. He highlighted the wider impacts on young adults, including remaining in the family home and putting off marriage and children.

His comments come as new modelling suggests no suburb in the Sydney basin would have a median house price below $1 million by 2031 if long-term price trends continue.

Everyone deserves a safe, secure and affordable home that gives them the foundation to plan their future.

What a day at the Bushland Community Day in Taree! ☀️🌱

Home in Place staff and tenants recently came together to create a new fruit tree garden and plant out a raised garden bed, made possible by generous donations from Wingham Nursery and Florist and Gilberts Nursery. 🍎

The coffee van and bacon and egg rolls were a big hit throughout the morning. Meanwhile, the children enjoyed playing Spin the Wheel with Gavin from Bunnings Warehouse Australia, who generously provided merchandise and prizes!

A big thank you to Corrective Services NSW and MyConnect for their support, and to everyone who contributed their time, resources and enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see tenants and local organisations coming together to make the day a success.

A lovely garden day in Thornton 🌱

Around 20 tenants joined us in their communal garden space yesterday, with Uniting Local Area Coordinators also attending to chat with tenants about the NDIS.

Tenants received a range of garden items through our Green Thumb Grants initiative to help refresh their shared garden space.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day possible!
