by BirdLife Australia takes place from 19–25 October 2026.

How to Take Part

• Time Required: Spend just 20 minutes in any outdoor space, such as your backyard, a local park, or school grounds.
• What to Do: Watch and count the birds you see during that 20-minute window. You can complete multiple counts across the week.
• How to Submit: Record your findings using the Aussie Bird Count App or the online web form.
• Identification Help: Use the app's built-in "Bird Finder" tool if you are unsure of a species.
