In 2025 we distributed 772 hampers to 24 schools across the Mornington Peninsula. Demand has increased again this year, so our goal is 1000 hampers.

Week One 126 hampers have been pledged with 874 to go.

Donations can be made to the New Peninsula Community Caring tax deductible bank account. BSB 633 000 ACC 249 998 923 Description “HOPE”

Individual hamper items can also be donated at our Op Shop on the Mornington-Tyabb Road or the Community Bank Mount Martha

New Peninsula Community Caring Christmas Hope Appeal launches today!

From tomorrow you will be able to donate items for hampers at the Op Shop.

Year on year the need is growing, and this year will be no exception. If you can donate an item or two, it will make a huge difference to families doing it tough this year.

If you are in Mount Martha, we are partnering with the Community Bank as a drop off location also. We are super grateful for their support.

Tomorrow is World Op Shop Day!

The day is all about recognising and amplifying the incredible impact of charitable reuse. So whether you are coming in to shop, donate or you are thinking about volunteering, the day is a reminder of the great work op shops are doing in the community to reuse, recycle and help reduce waste, all while raising funds to support those in need.

Did you know the term “Op Shop” originated in Melbourne in the 1920s. It was coined by Lady Millie Tallis, who established the first shop near St Vincent’s Hospital to fundraise for its x-ray department. She wanted to create a more dignified image for second-hand stores, highlighting the opportunities they provided for both donors and buyers.
