With Xmas and the end of the year coming up, we thought it would be a great time to let everyone know that we want you all to spend not only your time, but any spare cash you have, on your loved ones.
We are over the moon with the support that you all showed us and the awareness and funds raised was more than we could have hoped for.
We finished up with a massive $44100.
That’s a nice round figure of $14700 for each of our 3 amazing charities. It's okay, not to be okay. Speak & Share and Peninsula Health.

We will be getting in touch with you guys before Xmas and depositing the funds in time for you guys to put the funds to good use and hopefully help those that need it most.

Once again, from all of us at Break the Cycle, thank you all so much for the love and support.

Very sad to see this report this morning.

We passed Mr Zand on our journey, and noticed he was travelling solo. We offered him some water as he looked buggered, and as we passed we spoke amongst ourselves about the courage it takes to embark on such a journey without the support we were afforded.

This emphasises how dangerous our roads can be and how lucky we were to have the support we had.
Support is everything, if you need it, ask for it, it might save your life.

RIP Iman Zand.

Cyclist Killed on Dukes Highway Near End of Charity Ride from Perth to Melbourne
===============
This is absolutely tragic, we send our love and condolences to the family.

You may have seen us post about this legend before. :(
It has been confirmed that the cyclist tragically killed on the Dukes Highway at Brimbago last Tuesday was nearing the end of a charity ride from Perth to Melbourne. Iman Zand, who was just three days away from completing the grueling journey, was raising funds for Save Soil, Camp Quality, Lifeline, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria.

Having started his ride from Perth on October 3rd, Mr. Zand had traveled nearly 3,000 km, crossing the Nullarbor, before reaching Brimbago, southeast of Keith, where the accident occurred. He was struck by a van and died at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the Dukes Highway around 11:50 a.m. following reports of the collision. The driver of the van, a 43-year-old man from Naracoorte, was arrested the following day. He has been charged with causing death by careless driving, had his license immediately revoked, and is set to appear in the Naracoorte Magistrates Court on January 15th.

Leading up to his ride, Mr. Zand had expressed that the challenge was about pushing his physical and mental limits, all while supporting causes close to his heart. "This ride isn’t just about the kilometers I’ll cover or the personal endurance I’ll test; it’s about making a real difference for the world we live in and the people who need our help," he said.

In his final Instagram post the day before the crash, Mr. Zand shared an inspirational message: "When something touches your heart, act on it. Plan for it and make it happen. You’ve got to go for it. Time and energy are limited, so use them consciously. Do what really matters to you."

Day 19 was completed with 153km.

That is a total of 3548km travelled at an average distance of 187km per day at an average pace of 26.5 kph.

We climbed 9364m and rode for a total of 134 hours.

With all members combined distance, 17740km, and only 4 punctures, we managed 4435km per puncture!. (I think the 1st puncture was due to foul play by an overly excited team member, that was a little too excited upon being informed of our first puncture!).

We cannot thank you all enough for the ongoing support and encouragement.

Donations are still welcomed and as it stands, we have raised over $44k, but the awareness that we have managed to create is immeasurable.

Hopefully we have demonstrated to everyone what is possible with the right support.
We knew we needed help, and we asked for it. Life is no different, if you need help, ask for it.

We would not have been able to complete this challenge without the amazing support from all of our sponsors and our crew who were extremely generous and selfless with their time and energy.
Craig Lindsay Greg Lillico Dean Livesley and Tony Hume, you guys will never know how appreciative we are for your hard work and massive time donation. We are truly humbled.

To our friends and family that picked up the slack in our absence, words will never be enough.
To those that have donated or shared our posts, you’re every bit apart of this epic feat as the riders are. Thank you.
We may have pushed the pedals, but you all rode the bumps and steered us in the right direction.

To all those involved in yesterday’s home coming, the donations from local businesses and especially Anita & Alfie and all the clubs involved, massive thanks.

We will post some pics and total monies raised in the near future after all monies are tallied up.
