Our little mob had a wonderful week at playgroup. It’s deadly to see the children with their families all sitting on the cultural mat and enjoying doing our acknowledgement of country together feeling more confident each week.

For our cultural activity this week we celebrated National Sorry Day. The children were each given a template of handprints with indigenous symbols and plain handprints to create their own story. Each of the children coloured their hands in. We then cut them out and placed them all together on a large piece of black paper. Celebrating this day helps develop empathy, respect and an understanding of culture and history. It was deadly to see all the children’s handprint joined together as one large piece of artwork.🤲🫶

This week’s sensory activity we did a STEM activity. We made Magic milk. We placed milk and food colouring in a large tray. We then added food colouring. The children dipped the cotton tips into the dishwashing liquid and created fireworks. This was a huge hit with all the children. STEM activities help further develop the children problem-solving, logical reasoning and creativity skills.👩‍🏫

We enjoyed exploring outside building sandcastles, playing on the obstacle course and with bubbles.

Have a deadly weekend. 🖤💛❤️

Our little mob had a wonderful week at playgroup. It’s deadly to see the children with their families all sitting on the cultural mat and enjoying doing our acknowledgement of country together feeling more confident each week.

For our Wyndham vale session this week we went out to crocs play centre, the children engaged in a variety of activities that encouraged both fine motor and gross motor skill development. They explored the climbing equipment, slides, tunnels, and obstacle areas, which supported balance, coordination, strength, and overall gross motor skills. 🛝

For our cultural activity this week the children playing a matching game with different pictures. One was yarning, caring, aboriginal man and they had to match the correct card together. For our sensory activity this week we set up a large tuff tray with shaving foam and sea shells. On the other table we placed scissor cutting templates and children safe scissors on the table and the children had to cut on the lines.

Have a deadly weekend 🖤💛❤️

Our little mob had a wonderful week at playgroup. It’s deadly to see the children with their families all sitting on the cultural mat and enjoying doing our acknowledgement of country together feeling more confident each week.

For our Point Cook session this week we went out on country, sat on the grass together to do our acknowledgment of country and read our book. We had fun playing on the slides, swings, flying fox, sandpit and ten pin bowling. The children enjoyed being out in the sunshine taking in the fresh air. 🌞🌾

For our cultural activity this week we did a nature scavenger hunt. We went outside and collected bark, dirt, sand, flowers and sticks, as we collect each item we marked them off the sheet. Being in nature is calming for the children and helps lead to better environmental awareness and the beautiful world around them.🌳🍁💐

For our sensory activity this week the children explored bubble play. Wish of course was a big hit chasing the bubbles and seeing if they could pop them. Bubble play helps the children with their visual tracking and hand-eye coordination, watching the bubbles float and popping them improves the ability to track objects and coordinate hand movements.

We set up another table with whiteboards and aboriginal symbols for the children to copy and draw on the whiteboards or draw their own pictures. It was a great conversation starter for the children to ask about what the symbols were and what animal may have left those tracks. It is great for the children to learn more about culture through play.

For our cultural activity this week we designed and made Mother’s Day bookmarks. We gave the children a template of a bookmark each with indigenous designs on them. The children then used pencils and paint pens to draw on their bookmarks. We used black, yellow and red wool, we plaited the wool to add to the bookmarks. The bookmarks turned out deadly. We hope our mums, carers and special people enjoy using their bookmarks. 💐

This week’s sensory activity we set up a colour matching activity with pom poms. We placed black, yellow and red pom poms in a large bowl, the children used their fingers and placed the coloured pom poms into the correct bowls. This activity is great to help the children develop cognitive skills, problem-solving and the ability to recognize similarities and differences. It further develops the children’s fine motor skills when picking each pom poms up and placing it into the correct bowl.

We enjoyed exploring outside building sandcastles, playing on the obstacle course and with bubbles. 🌞🌼

We had our Koorie health Nurse attend Melton session this week to assist a new family with Maternal child health ups for the children. It was lovely to see the family supported and comfortable at our playgroup session having the Koorie nurse come to visit them.

Have a deadly weekend. 🖤💛❤️

Good Afternoon Families,

Our little mob had a wonderful week at playgroup exploring an arrange of fun filled activities.

Our Point Cook and Melton session’s this week we went out on country, sat on the grass together to do our acknowledgment of country and read our book. We had fun playing on the slides, swings, flying fox, sandpit and ten pin bowling. The children enjoyed being out in the sunshine taking in the fresh air.🦋🌞

Our Werribee session this week the adults joined in on the fun and had a healthy little colouring competition. Well done everyone the Kangaroo’s and flags look amazing.

For our cultural activity this week we did a nature scavenger hunt. We went outside and collected bark, dirt, sand, flowers and sticks. We then used the natural resources in our sensory tray with the playdough. Being in nature is calming for the children and helps lead to better environmental awareness and the beautiful world around them.

The children enjoyed this week’s sensory activity we placed homemade playdough with a hint of eucalyptus to create a nice scent on the table. We added four aboriginal art designed playdough mats and a large tub of playdough resources such as rolling pins and cutter, we added Australian animal cutters. The children explored the imagination of creating different animals with the playdough ( Kangaroo, Koala, Crocodile and Birds). Nature play helps reduces stress and anxiety, boosting self-confidence and resilience as children test their skills and navigate risks. Using the rolling pins and cutter helps further develop the children’s fine motor skills.

We had Jess from Brotherhoof of st Laurence come to yarn to our Point Cook families which was very successful with supporting our families with their services. Lana from EL&L training join our St Albans session demonstrating Arthur the puppet which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Have a deadly weekend. 🖤💛❤️

For our cultural activity this week we designed and painted rocks with Black, yellow and red paint. The children had a choice to do finger painting on their rocks or use a paint brush. The children were very excited to take their rocks home to display either in their garden or somewhere special inside. Rock painting helps improve the children’s problem-solving skills as painting requires children to make decisions about colour, design, and how to apply paint to an irregular surface. 🪨

This week’s sensory activity, The children had a blast with “The Ice-cream station”. Our “Ice-cream station” consisted of shaving foam with food colouring, cups, ice-cream scoops and confetti candy in a large tuff tray. The children scooped the foam into the cups and added the confetti for their sprinkles creating their own “Ice-Creams” helping further develop their fine motor and imaginative skills.🍦🍨

We enjoyed the last of the nice weather exploring outside building sandcastles, playing on the obstacle course and playing with bubbles.🌞🌻🌸

This week at our Melton playgroup CVGT parenting pathways came and spoke to our families about different opportunities for them to enroll into different courses, getting back to work support and parenting support. Werribee had Services Australia attend and have a yarn about any support they may require regarding all their services. It was wonderful to see our families in a comfortable and safe environment engaging with different services and being supported.

Have a deadly weekend. 🖤💛❤️

Our little mob had a wonderful week at playgroup. It’s deadly to see the children with their families all sitting on the cultural mat and enjoying doing our acknowledgement of country together feeling more confident each week.

For our cultural activity the children created Wombat face masks. We placed Wombat templates on the table, brown shredded paper, glue and pop sticks. The children enjoyed added their shredded paper to their mask’s helping further extend their fine motor skills. We assisted the children cutting their mask’s out and adding the pop sticks to their mask’s. It was very cute seeing them walking around together pretending to be Wombat’s.

We set up a table with magnetic alphabet letters, white boards and white board markers. This activity allowed the children to explore each letter of the alphabet. Creating their names. Understanding upper case and lower-case letters. The younger children were able to use the whiteboard markers to trace letters or try and copy the letters. While using letters in a play-based activities it helps the children’s cognitive growth, recognizing patterns, memorizing letter shapes, and understanding sound-symbol connections stimulates early cognitive development and problem-solving.

The children enjoyed this week’s sensory playing with bubbles and water play. Sensory play encourages children to expand their vocabulary describing their sensations and helps gross motor skills with large body movements.

The children enjoyed designing and making their own Easter baskets to take home for their easter egg hunt.🥳🐥🐇

We had our Koorie health Nurse attend Melton session this week to assist families with Maternal child health ups for the children. It was lovely to see the family supported and comfortable at our playgroup session having the Korrie nurse come to visit them. On Tuesday at Point Cook we Dani from Australian services visit our families and assist them with paperwork.

Have a deadly weekend.🖤💛❤️
