Travelling - even if for work or essential travel - can be dangerous during the Fire Danger Period. Active fires, closed roads and high fire danger on days when you are on the road can make our plans require a bit more thought.
You can travel during the fire danger period but it is best that you check weather conditions and fire risks first 📱🚙

• Always check Fire Danger Ratings and any Total Fire Bans in place, for both where you are travelling through and to,

• On Extreme and Catastrophic days, think about changing your plans to avoid high fire risk areas,

• Save the VicEmergency hotline 1800 226 226

• Download the VicEmergency App and turn on location services. Set up watch zones for the places you are going.

• Listen to ABC radio or local radio while you are on the road to hear warnings and advice.

Stay safe while travelling this Fire Danger Period, go to, https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/.../fire-bans.../can-i-or-cant-i to make sure you are being as safe as possible during the Fire Danger Period.

🚨 Community Update – Fire Situation Across Victoria 🚨

As many of you are aware, there are currently a number of fires burning across Victoria. Our local volunteer firefighters are actively responding, with crews deployed on the fireground and additional members on standby here in town, ready to respond if required.

Our members are working closely alongside Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) and fellow emergency services to ensure the safety of our community and surrounding areas. We thank everyone for their patience, support, and understanding during this challenging period.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Freddy’s Fruits and Kylie (a Melton local) for their incredibly generous donations and ongoing support of our brigade. Your kindness and community spirit mean more to our members than words can express, especially while crews are away from their families protecting others.

To our community — please stay informed, follow advice from emergency services, and never hesitate to reach out if you need assistance.

Thank you for standing with your local fire brigade. ❤️🔥
