Another way we help support our neighbours! 🚒🤝

Today, a team of six members from Melton Fire Brigade - CFA, alongside members from Rosebud Fire Brigade, relocated to Dromana Fire Brigade while Dromana crews undertook live fire training at the CFA Training Grounds.

Melton provided Road Accident Rescue (RAR) qualified members, along with firefighters trained in Breathing Apparatus (BA), ensuring the Dromana community and surrounding areas continued to receive a capable emergency response should an incident occur during the training.

This is a great example of brigades working together to maintain emergency coverage while supporting firefighter training and development across the CFA.

A big thank you to Mt. Martha Fire Brigade for the loan of their tanker, helping make today’s coverage possible.

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices during local and national disasters.
AusAlert messages keep communities informed so they can take action, saving lives and property.

The national test of AusAlert is happening on Monday 27 July 2026 at around 2pm AEST. 📅
AusAlert sends near-instant emergency messages to compatible mobile devices like mobile phones, tablets and smart watches. It uses vibration, sound and on-screen messages to get your attention.
If your device receives the national test, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for 10 seconds before stopping. As the national test is a Critical Alert, this happens even if your device is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.
You may receive this test while driving, riding or using public transport. 🛻
If you are driving or riding, stay calm and don’t touch your device. ⚠️
The alert may also play through your vehicle’s speakers using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or Bluetooth and may interrupt navigation or media like music or podcasts. 📱
🚨Mobile phone laws still apply – don't read or respond to the alert while operating a vehicle. Only check the message when your vehicle is turned off and it is safe and legal to do so.
🚌 If you receive an alert while on public transport, stay calm. Don't approach the driver about the alert.
This is just a test, and you do not need to do anything. You should always follow instructions or announcements from public transport staff.

🐾🚒 Building confidence, one paw at a time! 🚒🐾

Today, Melton Fire Brigade had the pleasure of welcoming the Melton Assistance Dog Group to the training and competition track for a unique familiarisation session.

The aim of the day was to help the assistance dogs become comfortable with the sights, sounds and smells they may encounter around emergency services. The dogs were introduced to:
🐶 Firefighters in full structural firefighting PPE and breathing apparatus
🚒 Fire appliances and equipment
🚨 Emergency warning lights and sirens
💨 Hoses, water, and other firefighting equipment

These training sessions are incredibly valuable, helping assistance dogs build confidence so they can remain calm and focused while supporting their handlers during real-life emergencies.

A huge thank you to the Melton Assistance Dog Group and all of the handlers for joining us today. It was fantastic to see the dogs growing in confidence throughout the session, and we look forward to working together again in the future.

Thank you to all of our Melton Fire Brigade members who volunteered their time to make today’s session a success.
