Opening tomorrow Saturday 9 May, 2–4 pm. Jump Left presents the exciting work of two artists - Robert Croft and Cam Michael, in two vibrant new solo exhibitions.

These exhibitions showcase the inspired practice of two distinctive artists from Geelong and Canberra respectively. These exhibitions showcase the inspired practice of two distinctive artists from Geelong and Canberra respectively.

Robert Croft, presented with the support of ArtGusto (Geelong), works with texture and colour to create drawings that reflect his intuitive and rhythmic approach to art making. His works are immediate and expressive, inviting viewers into a visual world entirely his own.

Also presented is Cam Michael, a multi-disciplinary artist based in Canberra. For his solo exhibition MOMENTS, Cam presents a recent series of luminous, considered, and quietly powerful glass and mixed media works.

This initiative is supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria, ArtGusto, and venue partner Impact Neighbourhoods.

Two artists. Two worlds. One extraordinary opening.

The final reveal ✨💙

David Booth’s incredible Level 2 mural is complete, and what a gift it is to this space.

Full of imagination, colour and character, it has completely transformed the floor and is already inspiring tenants and visitors alike. A recent visiting group of artists loved exploring every detail and discovering the characters within the work.

Thank you David for creating something so special for Donkey Wheel House. This is a piece that will inspire for years to come.

Meet Maya, one of the talented artists at the amazing Jump Left gallery and art space.

Maya Tamang, working under the artist name Miss Martha, is a disability activist and emerging artist whose practice is deeply rooted in lived experience and authentic expression. Through painting, drawing, and mixed media works, Tamang creates evocative artworks that offer raw and honest depictions of her journey with mental health whilst exploring broader themes of female portraiture, fashion, and their intersection with wellbeing.

Maya’s artistic practice extends beyond the studio as a tool for advocacy and community building. Through her work, she aims to create safe and inclusive spaces where sensitive subjects can be addressed openly, fostering understanding and empathy within the community.

We asked the team from  “Is there a moment or memory in the building that’s brought real joy to the team?”

And Kate said:

“A moment of real joy at Donkey Wheel House was welcoming Amunda, Arrernte artist and colleague from Central Australia, to share her artwork in the historic basement gallery.

Celebrating Amunda’s work alongside supporters of Children’s Ground filled the space with pride, connection and shared appreciation for culture and creativity.”

We are so grateful to share space with the team from Children’s Ground, a First Nations–led organisation creating a brighter future for the next generation.

Connection.

At The Intersection’s event at our recent open house, guests were invited into honest conversation with people sharing lived experiences from many walks of life.

The panel created space for curiosity, empathy and dialogue. The kind of conversations that help dissolve stereotypes and build understanding.

Exactly the kind of connection we hope to foster at Donkey Wheel House.
