🇹🇷 OUR COMMUNITY. OUR VOICE. OUR FUTURE. 🇦🇺

The Victorian Turkish community is diverse, strong and growing, but what do you believe should be our biggest priority over the next five years?

🗣️ Have your say.

Vote in the comments, or send us a DM and tell us what matters most to you.

Whether it’s community safety, education, supporting local businesses, preserving our culture and language, health and wellbeing, or something completely different, we want to hear from you.

This is about listening to our community and understanding what matters to Turkish Victorians.

🇹🇷 Fikriniz önemli. Sesiniz önemli. Toplumumuz önemli.

*As a Muslim, your future is _directly impacted by the Census!_*

Census Night is Tuesday 11 August - and the answers we give that night directly impact our community’s future for the next five years. When the Government sees more Muslims declare their religion on the Census, they will provide more services, funding and support to the Muslim community.

🗳️ Thinking about working at the Victorian Election?

If you’re 18 years or older, especially if you’re a university student or a young person looking to gain valuable experience, we encourage you to consider applying for election-day work with the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC).

Election-day roles don’t require extensive experience, what matters most is a positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to serve the community. While it’s a long and demanding day, it’s also incredibly rewarding. You’ll meet people from all walks of life, develop practical workplace skills, build your confidence, strengthen your résumé, and gain experience that can help shape your future career.

As members of the community, we simply want to encourage more Turkish Australians to put themselves forward and take advantage of these opportunities.

📩 Have questions? Feel free to DM AUS TURK FRIENDSHIP. We’re happy to share our own experiences and answer general questions about the application process where we can.

Please note: We are not affiliated with or employed by the Victorian Electoral Commission, we are not recruiting on its behalf, and contacting us does not influence or improve your application in any way. We are simply encouraging greater community participation and civic engagement.

Best of luck to everyone who decides to apply! 🇦🇺🇹🇷

As Victoria’s election campaign comes into focus and voters begin considering the future of our state, the Australian Turkish Friendship Association wishes every candidate and political party the very best.

Elections are an important part of our democracy, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas, engage with communities and shape Victoria’s future. We encourage all Victorians to participate respectfully and make their voices heard.

The Australian Turkish Friendship Association remains proudly non-partisan. Over many years, we have built genuine friendships and strong working relationships with representatives across the political spectrum including the Labor Party, Liberal Party and the Greens and Independents. We are grateful for the support and engagement of many Members of Parliament, including Jacinta Allan, Ben Carroll, Evan Mulholland MP , Iwan Walters MP Kathleen Matthews-Ward MP and many others who have taken the time to engage with our community.

We wish all candidates a safe, respectful and successful campaign.

The 2026 Australian Census is almost here, and every response matters.

When completing your Census, please remember to:
🇹🇷 List your ancestry as Turkish (if applicable).
🗣️ List your language spoken at home as Turkish (if applicable).

Accurate Census data helps ensure our community receives the recognition, representation, services and support it deserves. It also highlights the valuable contribution Turkish Australians continue to make to our nation’s multicultural success.

The Census is compulsory by law, quick, safe and confidential.

Your heritage. Our Australia. Let’s make every Turkish voice count. 🇦🇺🇹🇷

2026 Avustralya Nüfus Sayımı (Census) yaklaşıyor ve vereceğiniz her bilgi büyük önem taşıyor.

Sayımı tamamlarken lütfen:
🇹🇷 Köken (Ancestry) bölümüne Türk,
🗣️ Evde konuşulan dil (Language spoken at home) bölümüne ise Türkçe yazmayı unutmayın (uygunsa).
