Last Saturday was such a beautiful celebration of creativity and community at Walker Close Community Centre! 💛

Community members came along to enjoy and admire the amazing artworks created by our Art & Craft Corner participants — and it was wonderful to see some pieces finding new homes too.

Our Kids Workshop was also full of fun and smiles! Children and families enjoyed making paper flowers, colouring, creating cards, and designing their own DIY name badges to take home.

Thank you to everyone who came along, supported our community artists, joined the activities, and helped make the day so special.

It was a lovely reminder that art brings people together, creates connections, and brings joy to all ages. 💕

Cultures in Colours – Vietnamese Recipe Scrapbooking
What a beautiful and creative afternoon we had last week!

Participants worked in small groups to research Vietnamese dishes, then shared their findings and stories with everyone. It was wonderful to see everyone learning from each other and discovering the flavours and traditions behind Vietnamese cuisine, such as: Spring Roll, Bun Cha, Hoi An Chicken Rice, etc.

After that, we got creative and made our own recipe scrapbooks, featuring the Vietnamese recipes we explored together, along with some beautiful recipes and inspiration from Coles magazines.

A lovely session filled with learning, sharing, creativity and connection.

Last Thursday, we kicked off Cultures in Colours Program with a wonderful Vietnamese Paper Flower Making Workshop!

Participants explored 4 creative stations, learning to make 4 different types of beautiful paper flowers. It was a lovely afternoon filled with creativity, laughter, learning and connection. 🌷🌻

It is our honor to have Mrs. Myly from Vietnamese Association in Hobsons Bay Inc for being such a warm and wonderful instructor and for facilitating the session so beautifully.

Our Light Movement & Dance for Wellbeing program is off to a wonderful start! It's been fantastic to see participants enjoying gentle movement, learning new dance steps, and building friendships in a fun and supportive environment. Every week brings more smiles, laughter, and confidence as everyone moves at their own pace and encourages one another. We look forward to sharing many more moments of wellbeing and connection throughout the program. 💕

Come and celebrate the wonderful creativity of our local community at the Walker Close Community Centre Craft Gallery!

Over the past months, participants of our Art & Craft Corner have explored painting, sketching, embroidery, paper crafts, card making and many other creative projects. This exhibition is an opportunity to showcase their beautiful artwork, celebrate their achievements, and share the joy of creating together.

✨ Bring your family and friends to admire our community artists' work, meet the makers, and hear the stories behind their creations.

🎈 Kids are welcome too!
We've also prepared a Kids Workshop Station where children can enjoy painting, colouring, card making and other fun craft activities while visiting the gallery.

New Program: Cultures in Colours!

We are excited to announce that Cultures in Colours has been proudly funded by Hobsons Bay City Council through the Make It Happen Grant Program.

Join us for a 9-week journey celebrating Vietnamese and Chinese cultures through hands-on workshops, cultural storytelling and creative experiences. Participants will enjoy activities including recipe scrapbooking, lantern making, Mid-autumn Celebration, dance, paper crafts, Calligraphy and Chinese ink painting, while connecting with others in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

📅 Starts: Every Thursday, From 6 August 2026.

🎄✨ Christmas in July 2026 – What a Wonderful Celebration! ✨🎄
We were delighted to welcome more than 70 community members who came together to celebrate the joy of the season. The room was filled with laughter, music, and festive cheer as everyone enjoyed singing along to Christmas classics, dancing together, taking part in our song title challenge, and trying their luck in the lucky draw. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and hear everyone singing together throughout the afternoon.
