Is your parish ready for Sea Sunday?

Sea Sunday is on 12 July and is an opportunity for your parish to stand with those who work at sea. Seafarers and fishers spend months away from home, working in tough conditions to keep global trade moving and provide for their families. Often isolated and out of sight, they face long days at sea with little contact with loved ones, while ensuring the goods we rely on reach our shores.

Our pack contains everything you need to celebrate Sea Sunday and support our chaplains to provide spiritual comfort and practical help - offering friendship, guidance, and real hope to seafarers and fishers wherever they are.

In celebration of International Day for Women in Maritime (18 May), Stella Maris Melbourne Manager Lee-anne Diano and volunteers Clare, Georgina, Josette, Christina and Vivianna were invited to the Master Mariners dinner with guest speakers.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the contribution of women across the maritime industry, connect with maritime professionals, and recognise the leadership, resilience and dedication of women working at sea and ashore. We are grateful for the warm hospitality and inspiring conversations shared throughout the night.

At Stella Maris Melbourne, we are proud to support and encourage women in maritime, while continuing our mission of caring for seafarers from all nations who visit our ports. ⚓️💙
