FRV Commissioner Gavin freeman loves standing beside 1 new fire truck and boasts how good things are.

In reality, this is what’s happening every day. FRV fleet is in a disastrous state.

It’s the perfect time for the new minister Paul Edbrook to sack Freeman for his incompetence and destruction of the FRV fleet of fire trucks.

60 fire trucks unavailable to the community right now. Incompetence at its highest level from FRV senior management. It’s time for Commissioner Gavin Freeman to resign.

Remember, over 90% of staff voted no confidence in the commissioner.

Another two broken down fire trucks in FRV and no replacements.

All this is happening under the watchful eye of the incompetent FRV Commissioner Gavin Freeman who has the nerve to accuse the UFU of criticising him to much for doing his job.

Well we say he isn’t doing his job and should be criticised for every failure, every single day.

Why? Because it’s warranted.

Why ? Because public safety is compromised.

Why? Because 60% of the FRV fleet is over 15 years old and some trucks are over 36 years old.

Why? Because there are almost no replacements for these aging trucks on order.

Why, because FRV have spent upwards of 16million dollars of public money, litigating firefighters.

Yesterday FRV Commissioner Freeman played the victim card because he is incompetent at his job.

Nek minnit

On the very day Commissioner Gavin Freeman issued a communiqué to FRV employees about safety, firefighters and the Victorian community were being put at risk with a fire truck that should have been replaced 6 years ago.

Instead, its water tank failed, leaving firefighters without water at an incident. It is now off the road with no replacement trucks available.

If safety is truly the priority, why is there silence from the Commissioner on the unsafe state of FRV’s ageing fire trucks and the daily risks firefighters face?

Safety isn’t just words in a email. It means providing firefighters and Victorians with a safe and modern fire service.
