Latest news on our little man, Deakin: he’s loving life and is one very happy (and very social) pup! This month he has been focusing on lead manners on our walks—learning he doesn’t need to say hello to everyone—and he’s improving bit by bit. A trip to Bunnings and trying a Canny Collar made a huge difference too, with much calmer walking.

He also working on staying still for grooming, reducing the jumping (especially on furniture), and practicing mat “place” to help him settle. With consistency, patience, and a few well-timed treats, Deakin is making beautiful progress—such a clever boy!

🦁💙 Celebrating Deaf People’s Week & International Day of Sign Languages! 🤟

Today, 23 September, we celebrate the International Day of Sign Languages — recognising the importance of sign languages and the rich culture, identity and community of Deaf people around the world.

Here in Australia, Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is an important part of our Deaf and hard of hearing community. 🤟🇦🇺

This week is a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Deaf people, raise awareness, promote inclusion and accessibility, and encourage more people to learn and use Auslan.

At the Melbourne Deaf and Hard of Hearing Lions Club, we are proud to support our Deaf and hard of hearing community through service, fellowship and inclusion. 🦁💙

Let’s celebrate Deaf people, celebrate Auslan, and continue working towards a world where communication is accessible to everyone.

Today we dropped off SOCKS, JOCKS and UN**ES at Chelsea Community Support

They do a fabulous job helping rough sleepers with the dignity of clean underwear.

Our confident boy is growing and learning every day! From mastering his "off" cue to settling like a pro at his first volunteers' lunch (70% mat time – amazing!), Deacon is making us proud.

He's working on staying calm around exciting things like his harness, visitors, and yes... the broom 😅

He is facing his challenges and learning lots, which is all we can ask of him.

Well done Deacon, we are with you all the way! 💙🐕

Another enjoyable morning catching up! Kylie, Amber, Sarah and David (not to forget Ted made his first appearance) enjoyed a coffee together, sharing experiences, stories and a general catch-up.

It’s great to have a relaxed space where we can connect, support each other and enjoy some good company. 💙

We look forward to seeing more people at our next gathering! Sunday 22nd of November, Bunnings Keysborough Cafe.

Tonight we celebrated our Changeover to the start the new 26/27 year. A fun night with great company and great food at the Bridge Hotel. Looking forward to some new challenges, ideas and projects and for the year ahead. Tonight we had the great pleasure of inducting three people Isla, Gayle and Bec. Welcome aboard! Many thanks to Pat for inducting the new members and DG Russell for installing the new executive club board along some presentations. A big shout out to everyone who attended the dinner and celebrated with us.
