23 September is International Day of Sign Languages, a day to recognise how sign languages support connection, inclusion and participation.

The Australian Government’s National Sign Language Program provides free sign language interpreting and captioning services. The program is for older people who are Deaf, Deafblind or hard of hearing.

If you or someone you know is eligible, you can get support for:
🔹 aged care assessments, care planning and review discussions
🔹 health and medical appointments (with a Medicare rebate)
🔹 banking, housing and other important appointments
🔹 social and cultural activities
🔹 emergencies.

Today marks the first day of spring, and what better way to welcome the new season than by celebrating the community here at Ross House! 🌱☀️

Spring brings longer days, warmer weather, new growth, and a fresh sense of energy. It’s a time to look ahead, reconnect, and appreciate the little signs of change all around us.

Here at Ross House, we’re lucky to share our space with a diverse and passionate community of organisations, groups, and individuals working towards a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable world. 💚

As the flowers begin to bloom and the days get brighter, we hope spring brings our Ross House community plenty of fresh ideas, new opportunities, and reasons to come together.

Happy Wear It Purple® Day! 💜

On the last Friday in August, we celebrate Wear It Purple® Day. It’s a national day to show support for LGBTQIA+ youth by proudly wearing purple. 🌈

Today is a chance for us all to listen to and learn what LGBTQIA+ youth need to thrive, and to action them in our lives.

How can you get involved today:
💜 Wear purple! Share the purple with us by tagging us in your photos.
💜 Learn what support LGBTQIA+ youth want and see how you can help (you can check out our videos and website to get started).
💜 Have meaningful conversations about LGBTQIA+ inclusion with those around you.
💜 Let the young LGBTQIA+ people in your life know you proudly support them!

Your visibility and support help create safe, inclusive spaces for q***r youth everywhere.

We can't wait to see you all go purple and to join us in supporting LGBTQIA+ youth! 💜🌈
