🫖 A beautiful afternoon of good food, great company and warm conversation at Eunice Seddon.

Residents and staff recently came together for a special high tea, with a delicious spread of freshly made cakes, pastries, sausage rolls and more, all prepared by Linga and Mandy 🍰

With music playing, laughter flowing and plenty of stories shared, it was a lovely opportunity to connect, relax and enjoy each other’s company ❤️

Sometimes it’s these simple moments that mean the most.

☕A big smile spreads across John’s face as he picks up his new cup. “I tell everybody about it,” he says. This cup carries quite a story.

Last year, John told Recreation Officer Jack about the Thornbury cottage where he was born and raised. As a result, they set out to see if it was still standing. On Alexandra Street, they found it not only standing, but freshly painted behind its picket fence. 🏡

The biggest surprise came when the current owner, mid-renovation, warmly invited them inside. John showed Jack his childhood bedroom and shared memories of family life, school days, and summers in Mildura.

Even the old oval shed where he and his mates once gathered was still there.
Months later, over a cuppa, Jack suggested turning John’s photo outside the house into a personalised mug. John loved the idea.

Now, his cup appears black until filled with hot water, then his childhood home is revealed. John already plans to get another cup, featuring his late wife, Alma, soon to be his new favourite for a cuppa. ✨

🤠 A group of Tom Fitzgerald residents recently travelled to Glenrowan to step back in time and experience the thrilling Ned Kelly’s Last Stand show.

The immersive performance brought the infamous bushranger’s story to life, from the Kelly Gang’s rise through to the final shootout, trial and hanging of Ned Kelly himself. Loud, dramatic and full of action, the show had everyone captivated from start to finish.

Pictured left to right are residents Stuart, Tom, Richard and Maureen enjoying the day out. 👏

🧠 Marshmallows, fettuccine and a little healthy competition, what could go wrong? 😄

Delahey residents recently gathered in the community room for a surprise challenge: build the tallest structure using only fettuccine and marshmallows. Inspired by an activity from recent Rec Fest, the game quickly brought out everyone’s competitive streak.

There was deep concentration, plenty of laughs, and a few dramatic collapses in the final moments. But in the end, Barb took out the win with the tallest tower of the day 👏

🏊‍♂️ It’s Men’s Health Week, and Peter from Delahey is a great reminder that looking after your health can make all the difference at any age.

Peter has been with Wintringham for 14 years and recently celebrated his 93rd birthday, 93 years young!

At his age, Peter is still hitting the pool each week, swimming 30 laps, sometimes twice a week. 💪

His approach is simple: keep moving and stay active.

It’s a routine that helps him feel his best and keep doing the things he enjoys, proof that small, consistent habits can go a long way.

Here’s to Peter, and to men everywhere taking time to look after their health 👏

🐾 Before moving to Eunice Seddon, Kath worked in a pet grooming salon, so caring for animals had always been a big part of her life. But after moving into aged care, one thing she deeply missed was having a pet of her own.

Late last year, Kath shared her dream of one day having a cat again — and staff got to work helping make it happen ❤️

After careful planning and support from management, Kath was approved to welcome a furry companion into her life. Enter Hermoine 🐱, a beautiful kitten who stole Kath’s heart the moment she saw her photo.

Kath spent weeks preparing for her arrival, saving up for toys, food and all the essentials. Then, earlier this year, Hermoine finally arrived at Eunice Seddon, and it was love at first sight.

Now Hermoine is not only Kath’s constant companion, but also a much-loved member of the Eunice Seddon community. 🐾

🐾 A day full of smiles, cuddles and a whole lot of joy.

Residents recently enjoyed a visit from some very special four-legged friends, spending the day playing games, sharing cuddles and soaking up the feel-good energy 🐶❤️

It was a simple but meaningful reminder of the happiness animals can bring — and the smiles said it all.

A big thank you to Planet K9 for their support in making the day so special 🙌

🍷 Fine dining was on the menu at Gilgunya recently, with the Wintringham Food Services team transforming the Peter White Centre into a restaurant-style dining experience for residents.

Beautifully decorated tables, delicious home-cooked meals and a glass of wine made for a memorable afternoon enjoyed by all 🍽️✨

Monica and Priscilla from Food Services prepared a hearty menu of lamb shanks in red wine sauce with mash potato and a medley of vegetables, followed by homemade fruit pavlova and crème caramel for dessert. Residents who couldn’t attend still received the special meal in their rooms, making sure nobody missed out.

Residents were full of praise for both the food and the beautifully presented space, with many commenting on how much they enjoyed the experience ❤️

🎙️ Back in the day, Derrin worked in radio in South Australia, during an era when the airwaves were filled with Roy Orbison, The Beatles and the soundtrack of the 60s and 70s. Radio has always been a huge part of his life and recently, he had the chance to reconnect with that passion in a very special way.

After meeting Pete Holmes from JOY 94.9 radio show at a recent event, Derrin was invited to visit the station’s studios at the Victorian Pride Centre Victorian Pride Centre.

With support from Cara from the Recreation Team, Derrin stepped back behind the microphone and straight back into his element ❤️ Pete gave him a behind-the-scenes look at how radio works today, from digital music systems to modern broadcasting technology, a far cry from the turntables Derrin once used.

The highlight? Sitting behind the mic once again and sharing stories from his time in radio 🎧

Derrin’s passion and natural talent for broadcasting were impossible to miss, and Pete has since invited him back to be part of the show in the future.

Derrin described the visit as “one of the best days of my life” and is already looking forward to getting back on air soon. 🌈✨
