No two people are the same, and your NDIS plan should be as unique as you are 🤩

We believe support works best when it fits your life, your goals, and your routine – not the other way around. Our blog post breaks down how we tailor support to help you build confidence, connect with your community, and achieve independence on your terms.

How we make support work for you:

👉Starting with a conversation about your individual goals.
👉Matching you with support workers and coordinators who share your interests and communication style.
👉Keeping things flexible and adapting your support as your requirements change.

Whatever your goals are, our NDIS team is here to walk alongside you. Plus, because Opendoor is a registered NDIS provider, you know you can rely on our quality and trusted support. Get in touch with us to get started: https://opendoor.org.au/ndis/

Starting a new job is an ✨exciting✨ milestone, but settling into a new environment and routine can also feel a little overwhelming at times. That is completely normal.

👉Our blog post explores practical ways to look after your wellbeing and build confidence as you transition into a new role. Here are three simple ways to support yourself:

✔️Manage your time and priorities – use to-do lists or planners to focus on what matters most and to help you to avoid overload.

✔️Build healthy routines – focus on small, consistent habits around sleep, movement, and downtime to keep your energy up.

✔️Connect with your peers – take time to build workplace relationships, ask questions, and set realistic expectations as you learn your new role.

Remember, you do not have to navigate new beginnings alone. Opendoor’s Allied Health Wellbeing Support service is here to support your wellbeing at work, including flexible appointments outside of standard business hours.

🔦Congratulations on taking this next step in your career! Prepare yourself with our guide: https://opendoor.org.au/wellbeing-and-work-top-3-tips-for-starting-a-new-job/

That's a wrap on 50 Jobs for Mob in 50 Days.

Over the past 50 days, 47 Indigenous jobseekers have started work across Melbourne and Geelong. Traineeships, apprenticeships, childcare, aged care, construction, transport and more, across 11 Opendoor sites. There are still a few more roles about to be finalised, so we will likely hit the target in the next few days.

Behind every one of those numbers is a person starting a new chapter, and an employer who opened the door.

Thank you to the employers, community partners and Opendoor staff who made it happen. A few more candidates are interviewing now, so this number is still growing.

Did you know that 18 August is Never Give Up Day? đź’Ş

Today is all about recognising resilience and the determination it takes to keep moving forward, even when the path ahead feels steep. We see that strength in our community every single day.

Whether it's personal challenges, employment goals, or simply finding a pathway forward, know that you don't have to do it alone.

Today is International Youth Day.

A day to recognise the strength, courage and potential of young people in our communities.

This year’s theme, “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation Through Technology and Partnerships”, highlights the importance of connection, collaboration and creating opportunities for the next generation.

At Opendoor, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to feel supported, valued and hopeful about their future.

Every day, we see young people overcome barriers, back themselves and take important steps toward the life they want to build. Their resilience and determination inspire us constantly.

We are proud to walk alongside young people as they build confidence, develop skills and create positive pathways for themselves, their families and their communities.

Today, we celebrate the young people shaping a stronger future for all of us.

Cleanable’s Abdul joined us at the Opendoor Youth Careers Expo in Broadmeadows on Friday 6 August to talk to young people from the Transition to Work (TtW) program.

He was kept very busy connecting with TtW participants and sharing information on Cleanable, including what it means to be a social enterprise, and how they provide support and barrier-free employment to staff who are paid fairly, treated with respect, and given the opportunity to build long-lasting practical skills and confidence.

Like Cleanable’s team of cleaners, young people on the TtW program might have experienced obstacles or disruptions on the path to employment. That’s why the interactions Abdul had at Friday’s expo carry so much momentum; they could be the springboard a young person might need to step into meaningful long-term employment.

A big thank you to Cleanable for joining us on Friday, and to the jobseekers who visited us.

What an incredible day at the Broadmeadows Youth Careers Expo.

The day kicked off with speeches from our CEO Graham Dangerfield and Basem Abdo, MP Member for Calwell, setting the tone perfectly for the day ahead.

Huge effort from our Partnerships Team and the wider Opendoor team to bring this expo to life, connecting local young people with real career opportunities right in their community.

A massive thank you to all the businesses who supported and exhibited today, taking the time to speak with young people about the pathways and opportunities available to them.

And a special shout out to Hume City Council and our venue, Youth Central Broadmeadows, for helping make it all happen.

✔️ Our mission is always to see you as an individual, and to be empathetic to your experience, your background, and your challenges.

We are proud to call out Opendoor's Noor who supported a participant to develop their English language skills, and guided them throughout the process with empathy, understanding, and encouragement. 🤩

This participant took part in our English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes. We offer three certificates which meet you where you are; whether you want to develop your foundational skills or advance your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills to launch yourself into work or further study in Australia. 🗣️

Our EAL classes go beyond English language development skills. You also learn numeracy and digital literacy skills, providing a well-rounded skillset for your next steps.

So whatever your background is, Opendoor is here to help you feel supported and like a valued member of our community, and we're ready to guide you on your path forward.
