Update on our teeny tiny Havenite babies 🥹❤️

All 3 babies are absolutely thriving!!

Dewey is an independent little food demon 😂 We genuinely don’t know where he puts it! He also LOVES face kisses 🥹💕

Their little personalities are already shining through and we are obsessed with every single one of them 😭

🩵 Louie ADORES belly rubs — he rolls onto his side the second he spots a human.

🩷 Daisy is an absolute champion purrer.

💙 Huey is the BIGGEST snuggler… this boy could cuddle for hours.

They are litter trained and although they have a little trouble grooming themselves properly, they make up for it by grooming each other constantly 🥹❤️

We’ve already had some great improvements too — Dewey and Daisy have stopped having the runs already! 🙌

We already have a plan in place for when mum arrives ❤️ She has an appointment booked for Friday where we will collect blood from her and Dewey, along with some faecal samples and X-rays from the babies so we can continue investigating and make sure we’re covering all bases.

Weight updates from our little nuggets:

⚖️ Dewey — 400g yesterday → 451g today
⚖️ Huey — 500g yesterday → 570g today
⚖️ Louie — 500g yesterday → 608g today!

Unfortunately Daisy’s weight hasn’t changed and she remains at 670g, so we will be keeping a very close eye on our little lady 💕

We are so proud of these tiny babies and can’t wait to keep everyone updated on their journey 🥹

It’s Dove’s BIG day!! 🕊️❤️

Today this sweet girl will be saying goodbye to one of her little legs… but if there’s one thing we know about animals, it’s that they are incredibly resilient and we have no doubt this won’t slow Dove down one bit 🥹

We had some hiccups organising transport for her surgery that was originally booked for tomorrow, but luckily we found a wonderful more local vet who could fit her in today 🥰

A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated towards Dove’s care, we were able to raise just enough to get this precious girl the help she needs ❤️ We truly couldn’t do this without you all.

Please keep our brave little girl in your thoughts today while she undergoes surgery. We can’t wait to watch her recovery journey and see her thriving as a happy little tripod 🐾

We don’t usually publicly post our new intakes this quickly… these babies only arrived yesterday. But we wanted to share what we’re currently dealing with.

When Dewey, Huey, Louie & Daisy arrived, we knew pretty quickly something wasn’t right. The boys were unbelievably tiny — so small they couldn’t even properly eat from a normal bowl. They were barely mobile, like holding a tiny action figure.
Beside them, Daisy looked almost “normal” sized and the difference was hard to ignore.

This is nothing like we’ve ever seen before, neither have our vets!

For some insight… a usual 9 week old kitten weighs around 800g–1kg.

Dewey weighed just 400g, Huey & Louie 500g Daisy, while more developed, had a temp of 40.2 and weighed 670g. Heart rates mostly in the 200s and body condition around 1–2/5.

After vet assessment and discussions with their carers, concerns raised include congenital abnormalities, possible toxicity exposure in utero, or potentially dwarfism/genetic issues in the line.

The boys have barely any erupted teeth — instead they have abnormal tissue ridges where teeth should be, very flat/wide mouth plates and flat sternums. They’re needing slurry feeding, Pro Kolin + Clav drops and very close monitoring.

These babies were actually microchipped and vaccinated only last Friday, and we’ve been told no concerns were passed on at the time, which makes this even more shocking to us.

These 4 have been taken home for specialised care for now until they can move into a suitable foster placement for further investigation and ongoing care.

We are also really wanting to get mum so we can make sure she has no underlying health issues herself and hopefully get some answers about what may be going on here. If anyone can help with transport from Echuca, please reach out ❤️

This is the reality of undesexed cats.

If their mum had been desexed, these babies wouldn’t be living like this — fighting for survival before they’ve even had a proper chance at life.

But they are here now, and we will do absolutely everything necessary for them ❤️ Every medication, every slurry feed, every vet visit, every bit of care they need.

💔 URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR DOVE 💔

Meet Dove… a gorgeous little 5 month old kitten who was born different.

From birth, Dove has been missing toes on her back foot. We hoped with monitoring, love and careful management she may be able to comfortably keep her leg long term. Unfortunately, the worry we’ve always had has now become reality.

Her abnormal paw structure means she is putting pressure in all the wrong places. Her metatarsal pad has been taking the brunt of it, and she has now developed a painful wound/ulceration on the foot. After review, x-rays and discussion with our vets, the recommendation is that Dove will likely have a much better quality of life with a hind leg amputation.

As heartbreaking as it sounds… cats adapt incredibly well to 3 legs, and the goal is a life without chronic pain, pressure sores and ongoing complications.

Dove is just a baby. She deserves to run, climb, play and be a normal kitten without discomfort.

Unfortunately surgery isn’t cheap. We have received an estimate of approximately $1,700+ for Dove’s amputation and care, and as a rescue already struggling through slow adoptions and mounting vet costs, we desperately need help.

If you can spare even $2, $5 or $10, it truly adds up and gets us closer to giving Dove the pain-free future she deserves ❤️

What if helping a cat like Miguel could also win you $2,000?

🐾 Remember Miguel? 🐾
This sweet boy came back into care in heartbreaking condition, weak and severely underweight, needing urgent love, support, and a second chance.

Miguel’s recovery has been a long one, but thanks to the incredible dedication of his foster carer, he has made an amazing transformation. With patience, proper care, and so much love, he has regained his strength and is now healthy, thriving, and ready for the next chapter of his life.

Stories like Miguel’s are a reminder of just how much foster care, time, and commitment can change an animal’s future.

If you’d like to support the work that helps cats like Miguel, one simple way is by entering our weekly draw. Entries start from $2, with proceeds helping provide care, recovery, and second chances for animals in need — and you’ll also go into the draw to win $2,000.

Thank you so much to every single person who donated, shared our posts, sent kind messages or kept Hero in your thoughts over the last few days ❤️

Hero finally came home last night after being hospitalised with severe cat flu that progressed to pneumonia. He required oxygen therapy, IV antibiotics, hospital care and extensive testing, with his emergency vet bill reaching over $2,500 in just a couple of days.

He is doing better, brighter and eating, which is the news we were desperately hoping for, but he is not completely out of the woods yet. He still has a long recovery ahead and needs very close monitoring over the coming days.

Without the support of our community we genuinely could not have given him the care he needed. As everyone knows, adoptions have been painfully slow lately and emergency vet bills like this hit rescues incredibly hard.

Thank you for helping us give this sweet boy a fighting chance 🫶

Please keep Hero in your thoughts while he continues to recover at home ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums out there today, especially our Enchanted Rescue & Ingrid’s Haven mummas who have done such an incredible job raising their babies 💐

Tara, who has been waiting at the haven for so long while being the most devoted mum. Recently she heartbreakingly lost one of her babies to FIP 💔

Lyria, whose babies arrived covered in fever coat and are now unfortunately battling flu, but she hasn’t left their side through any of it.

Willow, who safely gave birth in foster care just yesterday and is already doing an amazing job.

Sheeba, who was also able to bring her babies safely into the world while in care.

Mae, whose babies were just desexed and starting their next chapter. Sadly 2 are still recovering in foster after a mild aspiration during surgery, but they are being monitored closely and getting lots of love.

Amara, whose babies have all grown up and found homes except for one special little girl, Gollies, now queen of our teen/kitten enclosure.

Jellybean, who raised her gorgeous babies in foster care. Most of her kittens are now at Braeside Petstock hoping to find their forever homes.

Bubbles, who has done an amazing job raising her babies and keeping them safe.

Mitzi, who not only cared for her own babies but also took on 2 orphan kittens as if they were her own 🥺

Bridgette, who is absolutely terrified and struggling in the shelter environment while trying to raise her babies. We hope one day she learns people can be kind.

And sweet Florence, who heartbreakingly lost almost her entire litter to flu, with only one surviving baby 💔 We know how hard she fought for them.

All of these mums deserve homes just as much as their babies do. Sadly in rescue, the kittens are usually adopted quickly while the mums are left behind waiting. The ones struggling in care and not coping in a shelter environment deserve to know what it feels like to finally be safe, loved and chosen too.

Rescue sees the beautiful moments, but also the heartbreaking ones. Today we celebrate all the mum cats who have loved, protected and raised their babies the best they could.

Happy Mother’s Day to every human foster mum, adopter mum, volunteer mum and cat mum too 🐾
