Our social media presence is used to communicate credible immunisation information. We hope to engage with our audience by creating a positive, inclusive space for people to gather answers and ask questions about immunisation. We welcome questions, commentary and constructive feedback and to ensure everyone has a positive educational experience on our platform, please

be aware of the following guidelines for our online community:

- Comments endorsing misinformation or disinformation of any kind will be deleted at our discretion.

- Abusive, threatening, trolling, harassing or hateful speech will not be tolerated.

- Please refrain from sharing unrelated or irrelevant content.

- We love it when you share our posts, however, please make sure you tag us accordingly.

- MVEC content must not be edited or modified (including removing any branding, acknowledgement, authorship or copyright notice) and MCRI retain all intellectual property rights to content.

👋 Meet Capvaxive – the latest vaccine to join the National Immunisation Program (NIP)

🗓️💉 From 1 July 2026, Capvaxive will replace Prevenar 13 and Pneumovax 23 for adults, including:
🔸those with specified medical conditions from 18 years
🔸First Nations adults from 25 years
🔸non-Indigenous adults from 65 years.

Generally, only 1 dose is required in a lifetime 👍

❄️ Capvaxive must be stored between 2°C and 8°C.
It must be protected from light

A single 0.5 mL dose comes as a pre-filled syringe

Capvaxivce can be safely co-administered with other vaccines ✅💉💉

If your child is getting a BCG vaccine, check if they need a measles vaccine too! They can get the MMR vaccine the same day as BCG, or 4 weeks apart ✅

The number of measles infections is increasing in Australia and all around the world 📈 🌏

For everyone born in 1966 or later, 2 doses of measles-containing vaccine are required to be protected 🛡️

✈️ Infants as young as 6 months who are travelling are recommended to have an MMR vaccine.

🗓️ If they are aged 6 to 11 months, this will be an extra dose before their routine 12-month and 18-month doses
🗓️ If they are between 11 and 12 months it will count as their 12-month dose then they will complete their 18-month dose as normal.

‼️ Reminder: both BCG and MMR are not safe for people with immunocompromise, or for pregnant people ‼️

*** REPOST: It’s been a couple of years now since we met Arexvy, and now, as of 15 May 2026, it is funded on the NIP for eligible older adults 🥳

✍️ We’ve refreshed our Meet Arexvy post with updated information about vaccine recommendations and funding. Let us know in the comments if you have any questions 👇 ***

📢 In January 2024, Arexvy was registered by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). It is available for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in adults 60 years and older (or 50 years and older and at increased risk for RSV disease) 🦠🤒

A course of vaccination requires a single dose. Arexvy can be administered at any time of year and may be co-administered with other vaccines 💉💪

Common side effects include injection site reactions, headache, malaise and fatigue. These side effects typically last 1-2 days and can be managed at home with symptomatic relief 🤒

Arexvy is now funded on the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for all adults ≥ 75 years and First Nations adults ≥ 60 years 👏🙌🎉
