For young people who could happily spend hours building, exploring and creating in Minecraft, our Minecraft Creative Daytime Server gives them a place to do exactly that alongside other Autistic and Neurodivergent young people who share the interest too.

Designed with homeschooled young people in mind, this longer daytime session focuses on creativity, connection and enjoying Minecraft together in a supported, Autistic-led online space.

What a day! 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the I CAN Expo 2026 possible - our sponsors, supporters, exhibitors, speakers, schools, families, volunteers and everyone who joined us on the day.

Your support helped create a space where Autistic and Neurodivergent young people could connect, learn, share their experiences and celebrate what makes them who they are.

Most importantly, it gave so many wonderful young people the opportunity to find their voice, build confidence and proudly say I CAN!

HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAY, I CAN!

Today marks I CAN's 13th Birthday! It's been 13-years since the first I CAN gathering of Penny, James and I at the Monash University Education Faculty which I organised following my TEDx: 'How My Untoppable Mother Proved the Experts Wrong'.

We knew the I CAN vision - an Autistic-led mentoring program which empowered Autistic young people with an 'I CAN' attitude was a big idea - but we had no idea just how much it would take off.

We began organising ourselves in my grandmother's back room in Ashburton and then moved to the Foundation for Young Australians where we met fortnightly on Wednesdays.

First, we started with camps which sourced many of the Autistic staff we have today. Next we moved to school-based mentoring programs starting at Marymede Catholic College and now supporting over 300 schools. Online-based programs followed the school model and today we deliver online mentoring across every State and Territory in the country.

Over the last 13-years we have been privileged to employ 200 Autistic people who, together with their non-Autistic colleagues, have mentored thousands of Autistic young people nation-wide. We have become the largest Autistic-led mentoring program of our kind the world-over.

Many in the beginning doubted whether our model would work. There's no doubt it does. In FY26 we achieved a 25% increase in mentee connectedness, a 13% increase in mentees feeling positive to be Autistic/Neurodivergent and 12% increase in mentees feeling confident to work in a group.

Our Purpose, Values and professionalism has made us a trusted voice on autism in many circles of power. Our fingerprints are on many policies and programs which continue to create better conditions for Autistic people and their families.

Thank you to our members, Board and staff, including former members, directors and staff who have given enormous amounts of time to I CAN. We hope you're proud of what we've achieved together. Thank you to the families of our staff who have been fans in the background. Thank you to the schools and parents/carers who have entrusted us with the privilege to mentor their young people. Your support has meant the world. Thank you to the thousands of Autistic young people who have taken a risk and walked through the door to the I CAN Program and been brave enough to be themselves! We love working with you all and creating the best program we can with you all. Thank you to the I CAN community who have helped to push out our message to the world.

On a personal note, thank you to my wife Karen and son George who have been and continue to be the wind beneath my wings. Thank you to my parents and grandparents, friends and supporters who have all kept me going. You all know what you've done!
