Ready Set Australia Creating life change for people facing barriers to employment by providing professional clothing and training to people in need. Donate today!

Ready Set offers free professional clothing and career support training to women and men wanting to enter or return to the workforce; or needing appropriate clothing to present themselves at those important life events. Clients are normally referred by a referral agency - job training and placement agencies; or community based not for profit organisations that support the disadvantaged. Our clients may have been out of work for a long time. Some may never have had a job, while others may be coming out of prison or other programs. They may be recovering from a life changing illness or be a recently arrived refugee. Support us by donating, volunteering or coming to one of our fundraising fashion sales.

When Jamie first came to Ready Set, he wasn’t quite sure what to expect.

What he found was a team of volunteer stylists who were kind, nurturing and helpful and who made him feel safe.

Jamie says matching colours when putting an outfit together can sometimes be tricky. Our stylists took care of that, choosing clothes that worked for him and helping him feel confident in his new look.
And when Jamie put on his outfit, he knew he was ready to go to work.
We think the pose says it all.

We’re excited to be part of ABOVE IT ALL at Good Heavens Rooftop Bar for Melbourne Fashion Week!

$10 from every ticket goes directly to Ready Set, helping us provide clothing, coaching and connections that create confidence for jobseekers experiencing disadvantage.

Meet Charmaine.

For Charmaine, having a job is about independence, purpose and having a reason to get out of bed each day.

Currently working in retail, Charmaine has her sights set on becoming a research scientist.

When she first visited Ready Set, she was a little nervous. Our volunteer stylists took the time to make her feel comfortable, listened to what she liked and helped her find an outfit that made her feel confident.
She loved the quality of the clothes and left feeling ready to take her next step.

We’re thrilled to receive a $20,000 CommBank Staff Foundation Community Grant! 💛

This funding will help Ready Set reach more jobseekers with the clothing, coaching and connections they need to take their next step towards employment.

For a jobseeker facing disadvantage, having the right outfit for an interview and the confidence to present themselves can make a real difference. Through our styling and coaching services, we help remove some of the practical and emotional barriers that can stand between a jobseeker and an opportunity.

Over the past 12 months, our Ready Set Mobile team has doubled the number of mobile services delivered compared with the previous year.
Through partnerships with employment providers, we are able to take our service on the road and meet jobseekers in the communities where they live and where they will ultimately find work.

Recently, our Mobile team visited SYC in Lilydale, bringing clothing, styling support and encouragement directly to jobseekers in their local community.

And it seems the feeling was mutual. The SYC team told us:
“They all had a great day and we received great feedback from our participants, who really enjoyed the experience.”

For us, it’s about making our support more accessible and helping people step forward with confidence, dignity and hope, wherever they are on their journey to employment.

Before Martin’s FutureFIT session, the 18-year-old aspiring forklift driver from Warringa Park School didn’t have high-quality clothing to wear to an interview.

Through the session, Martin received quality clothing he loved and felt proud to wear, along with personalised dressing suggestions to help him feel comfortable and confident in his new clothes.

The difference was clear. Martin loved his new clothes so much he didn’t want to take them off, he even wore them back to school to show his friends!

He said the session increased his confidence to dress appropriately and present himself for an interview, while helping him understand how to feel like himself in his new clothes.

FutureFIT is a collaboration between Big Group Hug and Ready Set Australia, helping young people build confidence and prepare for employment opportunities through professional styling and practical support.

The program operates from our Tarneit Hub, in a space proudly supported by Wyndham City Council.

We’d also like to thank Ford Australia for supporting this important work and helping young people like Martin feel ready to take their next step towards employment.

For one night only, Ready Set is coming to the city as part of the Melbourne Fashion Week. In partnership with Good Heavens Rooftop Bar, expect a special evening of pre-loved designer fashion, cocktails, snacks and circular fashion with purpose.

Event details:
Time: 6:30pm
Tickets: $60 per person
Includes: Arrival cocktail + snacks + $10 donation to Ready Set
Venue: Good Heavens Rooftop Bar Level 2, 79 Bourke Street, Melbourne.

Purpose: Supporting Ready Set to help people get back on their feet through clothing, confidence and connections. This is a fundraising event to drive much needed revenue support.

Details: Event will include shopping, sipping and show & tell along the way. Lucky door prizes to be won and stylists on site to support colour,confidence and more.

After many years in a high-level office role, Max stepped away from corporate life. Mentally exhausted by years of desk-based work, he needed time to reset and bring some balance back into his life.
He found work he enjoyed in casual labouring while studying to transition into a new career in recruitment and personnel.
Now re-energised and focused on helping others, Max is ready to return to the professional workforce.

During his styling session with Ready Set, Max was styled in interview clothes for his upcoming interviews. He said he wouldn’t normally choose or be able to afford such clothing. With the support of our volunteers and a wardrobe that makes him feel confident, he now feels ready to face the challenges of finding work in his new field.
Sometimes, having the right clothes is about more than what you wear. It’s about feeling ready to take the next step.
