Members, just advising we will NOT be hosting Game 2 State of Origin tonight in Melbourne.
We will host game 3 in the event of a Queensland victory tonight.

This weekend will see the culmination of the NSW premiership IRB rounds before upcoming State and Aussies. We wish our team all the best for a successful weekend at beautiful Swansea Belmont.

Members it’s timely that we familiarise you with a couple of essential emergency response items in the event you need to urgently respond to a major beach incident on the beach such as a shark attack or person in distress.

Located outside the BK room on the cage colour bond storeroom is our new ‘shark trauma kit’ & defib unit both of which might be needed in the event of an attack.

Also remember we have our ‘after hours rescue board and tube’ beachside ready for use near the club kiosk.

All of these items are under CCTV monitoring and alarmed.
Hopefully we’ll never need to use them but if you do, you know where they’re located.

Still catching up from last weeks activities.
Last weekend our club hosted a 2 day community focused first aid course run by SLSNSW Academy.

A big attendance and vital community course, whilst upstairs we hosted a large community gathering in support of our Socceroos v Turkey match!

It’s been a really busy few weeks here at South Maroubra HQ so apology for the delayed post relating to Saturday!

Here’s a big shout out to one of our own, involved in the life saving efforts of Leah Stewart the swimmer attacked by a shark at Coogee Beach.

A wonderful but nevertheless confronting effort by our own club member, lifesaver and friend Charlie White who jumped into action as a duty lifeguard with colleagues to help fellow lifesaver Charlie Verco and Leah.

Great work by both Charlie’s, Ben @ Coogee and the many beachgoers that all contributed to a life saving effort!
