Recently 5 members of Maroubra RSL sub-Branch attended the opening of the Gundagai Memorial to the Battle of Coral-Balmoral, and the Battle‘s Victoria Cross for Australia recipient, the late Private Richard Norden VC.

At the heart of the memorial is a striking bronze sculpture depicting Private Richard Norden VC assisting a wounded mate under fire, capturing the bravery that earned him Australia’s highest military honour, the Victoria Cross. The memorial itself is quite a moving representation and is situated in Carberry Park Gundagai.

The commemoration service was well attended by sub-Branch/RAR Association members from across the country. Maroubra RSL sub-Branch presented Gundagai sub-Branch with a plague commemorating the event. An enduring relationship has been established between the two sub-Branch’s for greater joint participation and camaraderie under the guise of Coast to Country to Coast. We look forward to growing and fostering this relationship.

For 110 years, the RSL has stood for mateship, compassion, and service, advocating for the wellbeing of current and former Australian Defence Force members and preserving the spirit of service in our nation.

At Maroubra RSL we want to honour the legacy and ongoing mission of the RSL, as well as supporting those who have served and are currently serving.

#110

On this day in 1916, the Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL Australia) was established by veterans determined to support those who had served, and their families.

For 110 years, the RSL has stood for mateship, compassion, and service, advocating for the wellbeing of current and former Australian Defence Force members and preserving the spirit of service in our nation.

Today, we honour the legacy and ongoing mission of the RSL, and all those who have served Australia with dedication and courage.

Last Friday, Maroubra RSL held their Golf Day at .golfclub . Although the weather was questionable, we had a good turnout with three teams of RSL members and veterans competing in our Ambrose competition. The winners were our team ‘The Chiefs’ for the second consecutive Golf Day, although the other teams put up a good fight.

Afterwards we were joined by more members of the RSL and families for camaraderie and lunch. We were even joined by as she sailed past on her way home.

Thankyou to everyone who helped organise and to those who turned out to support the day. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next event!
