Last Friday, Maroubra RSL Sub-Branch held a Golf Day at Randwick Golf Club as part of our ongoing Sport & Recreation Program.

We had 22 players take to the course, bringing together veterans, current serving personnel, families and members from multiple Sub-Branches. Another 20 supporters joined us on the course, walking alongside our teams and helping make it a fantastic day.

The weather was great, the competition was friendly, and most importantly, there was plenty of mateship and camaraderie.

Sport has a wonderful way of bringing people together. Days like this provide an opportunity to step away from the everyday, build connections, strengthen friendships and enjoy the company of others who share a connection through service and community.

A huge thank you to everyone at Maroubra RSL who helped make the day possible, to our players and walkers for getting involved, and to everyone who contributed to such a great atmosphere.

🏆 Congratulations to “Young and the Restless” on taking out the win!

Here’s to good sport, great mates and plenty more days like this.

Last week, RSL National President Peter Tinley AM was interviewed on The Last Post Radio Show podcast about the League’s opposition to the Federal Government’s proposed $5000 allied health cap.

During his conversation with host Greg T Ross, Peter reiterated the RSL’s position: in trying to w**d out over providers and gougers, veterans should not be used as the hammer.

Today is Vietnam Veterans’ Day.

Today, we honour the more than 60,000 Australians who served in the Vietnam War, and remember the 521 Australians who lost their lives.

One of those 60,000 Australians is Maroubra local Colin Flatters, Vice President of Maroubra RSL Sub Branch, who after his service to our nation, has served our community for many decades.

Thank you Col.

A very proud moment for Maroubra RSL Sub-Branch

We are honoured to have our Sub-Branch Committee and Sport and Recreation Program sub-Committee recognised in the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards, celebrating the dedication, effort and community service of our incredible volunteers.

Across 2025/26, our volunteers have supported not only our members, but the broader veteran, family and local community — always willing to roll up their sleeves and make a difference.

These achievements are a reflection of the people behind them. The sum of the whole is greater than the sum of any individual — and therein lies the strength of Maroubra RSL Sub-Branch.

Thank you to all our volunteers. Well done, Team Maroubra! 👏

Maroubra RSL Sub-Branch was honoured to take part in the ceremony held by RSL NSW commemorating the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Pacific (VP) Day.

We pause to remember and honour all those who served in the Second World War, whose courage, sacrifice and service helped bring the war to an end.

It is a privilege to stand alongside the broader RSL community as we remember those who served — and ensure their stories and sacrifices are never forgotten.

Lest We Forget.

This month, Maroubra RSL Sub-Branch’s meeting looked a little different.

Before coming together for our monthly meeting, we paused to commemorate VP Day and Vietnam Veterans Day — whose anniversaries take place this month. We took a moment to reflect on the courage, service and sacrifice of those who served, and to remember the experiences and sacrifices that continue to shape our veteran community.

It was also a reminder of the importance of camaraderie — coming together, sharing stories, remembering our history and supporting one another.
