Owned and run by the community of Maleny since 1908. The main building is self sustaining using solar power and water tanks.

Maleny Community Centre Inc (MCC) has been owned and run by the community of Maleny for more than 100 years and receives no ongoing government support. The MCC works collaboratively with many other community organizations to provide social and cultural amenity in the region. The facilities have been upgraded to provide increased social capital, amenity and liveability within the community, increased financial independence, and the means to support cultural, economic and social enterprises in the region into the future. The Main Hall is fitted with new digital technologies to support cinema and theatre performances, and, through a more advanced internet presence, will provide affordable on-line information, promotion and sales services to users of the facility. MCC will continue to provide a variety of excellent, modern Community Centre spaces, including a concert-ready modern main hall, for use by a broad base of people thus delivering lasting economic and community benefits. Directed by Jim Jarmusch (Mystery Train; Dead Man; Paterson), this anthology drama explores the dynamics within three separate families, spread between Anytown USA, Dublin and Paris. The ensemble cast includes Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, Vicky Krieps and Cate Blanchett. The film is broken into three thematically linked episodes. In the first two we see parents at their worst: deceitful, egotistical, and manipulative. The third episode introduces twin siblings, played by Luka Sabbat and Indya Moore. After the death of their parents they return home, sifting through the family’s documents and photographs, in search of a deeper understanding.

🧵 A Weekend of Slow Stitching in Maleny 🤎

Join us for two very special days of creativity, beautiful vintage textiles, storytelling and, of course, plenty of stitching!

🌸 Saturday 31 October – Bunting, Blooms & Buttons
A beautiful slow-stitched mini quilt filled with vintage fabrics, delicate embellishments, flowers and buttons.

🦉 Sunday 1 November – Elsie’s Lost Treasure Textile Journal
A gorgeous textile journal inspired by Elsie and the Railway Cottage Lost & Found Department, filled with layers of fabric, texture and stories.

Both days include everything you’ll need — a beautiful kit to create your project, guidance throughout the day, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

And for those making a weekend of it, we’ll also have a relaxed Saturday evening Sit & Stitch, a chance to gather, chat and stitch together.

An afternoon of great Italian opera with Trio Sole at Maleny Community Centre this Sunday 25th October from 2:30pm.

Trio Sole - soprano Vanessa West, Neapolitan tenor Raffaele Pierno and pianist Janet Brewer - brings the passion, drama and beauty of Italy’s most iconic operas to the Sunshine Coast for one special afternoon. Featuring music from La Bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Cavalleria Rusticana and La Traviata, this program is built around the moments audiences love most - the great arias and duets that have defined opera for generations. At its heart are semi-staged excerpts from La Bohème and La Traviata - offering more than a concert, and hosted by much-loved local artist Margaret Taylor OAM, this performance has been designed as a genuine cultural event for the Maleny community.

Ch*****ne on arrival sets an elegant, celebratory tone, followed by tea, coffee and a selection of sweets at interval (gold coin donation).

An afternoon designed to feel like a La Scala gala in Milano - right here in Maleny.
