Together, we can restore vital habitat across the Sunshine Coast hinterland 🌱

By bringing together locals, landholders and businesses, we’re working toward planting 10,000 native trees where they’re needed most — creating healthier landscapes for koalas, greater gliders and countless native species.

Every tree matters. Every person counts.

🌱 World Environment Day with the Roving Restorers 🌱

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Montville for our World Environment Day Roving Restorers event!

Together, we planted an incredible 350 native tubes along a riparian corridor, helping to stabilise creek banks, reduce erosion, and prevent sediment and excess nutrients from entering our waterways.

What makes this site especially important is that these waterways flow directly into Kondalilla Falls and the wider Obi Obi Creek catchment. Protecting and restoring vegetation along these creeks helps improve water quality and supports healthy ecosystems downstream.

A special thank you to Marilyn for welcoming us back to her beautiful property and for her ongoing commitment to restoring habitat and protecting our local environment.

Every plant in the ground is a step towards healthier waterways, stronger wildlife corridors, and a more resilient landscape for future generations. 🌿💚

🐨🌱 Last Chance to Sign Up for Roving Restorers This Week! 🌱🐨

Join us for our very first Koala CARER event!

What does CARER stand for? Community Action: Restoration & Education in Reesville.

This week we'll be heading to Sam's property to care for previously established koala habitat plantings in an area that supports a known population of healthy koalas. By maintaining these young trees, we're helping to create and strengthen the habitat corridors that koalas rely on to move safely through the landscape.

Come along, meet like-minded people, and make a real difference for our furry friends.

🛠️ No experience necessary
🌿 All welcome

A picture speaks a thousand words — and this Booroobin case study tells a powerful restoration story 🌱

In 2023, we planted 200 native trees at the site. Less than a year later, they had already shot well above head height. Encouraged by this rapid growth, a further 500 stems were planted.

With outstanding care from the landholder, these plantings continued to establish and thrive over the following two years. Now in 2026, the first planting has formed a closed canopy and is functioning as a healthy ecosystem, while the second planting is also flourishing.

Inspired by this success, we couldn’t help but add another 500 native trees to further strengthen habitat for wildlife.

So the question is — what will this site look like in another three years’ time? 🌿

🌿 Wildlife of the Month 🌿

Spotted on site during a recent Roving Restorers day, Dipodium — commonly known as the hyacinth orchid — is a fascinating native orchid found across Australia.

Many Australian Dipodium species are leafless and rely on underground fungal networks for nutrients, making them closely connected to healthy forest ecosystems. Their striking spotted flowers can appear in shades of white, pink, purple, yellow and green.

These orchids emerge seasonally in native bushland and forested areas, serving as a reminder of the incredible biodiversity supported by intact habitat and thriving ecosystems 💚

🌿 Volunteer of the Month 🌿

June has been a long-time volunteer with Hinterland Bush Links, always bringing positivity, generosity, and encouragement to every Roving Restorers session. Whether she’s helping with w**ding and planting or keeping the team fuelled with her famous chocolate slice, June’s support goes far beyond restoration work.

She embodies the community spirit of HBL — creating the welcoming and connected atmosphere that makes our volunteer days so special. We’re incredibly grateful for her ongoing support, both on and off site 💚
