This month, we want to acknowledge and thank our 2026–27 Management Committee!

Hinterland Bush Links is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who contribute their time, skills and expertise to guide our strategic direction and support our day-to-day operations.

Meeting every two months, and providing support in between, our committee plays an important role behind the scenes, helping us deliver conservation projects, support local landholders and engage our community in protecting and restoring the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

A big thank you to Donna, Toli, Liz, Elaine, Kym, Julie, Marilyn and Fergus for your ongoing commitment, knowledge and passion for HBL and the landscapes we work to connect, restore and protect.

Join Hinterland Bush Links on Sunday 29th of November as we come together to celebrate another year of community conservation and reflect on what we’ve achieved in protecting and restoring the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

🐸 Meet the Stony Creek Frog!

The Stony Creek Frog (Rhyaconastes wilcoxii) is a native Australian frog found along the east coast, living among rocky creeks and streams in forested environments.

Males are often smaller than females and can develop bright yellow or orange colouring during the breeding season. They also produce soft, purring calls to attract a mate.

Beyond its unique characteristics, the Stony Creek Frog can help us understand the health of our freshwater ecosystems. Its presence can be a useful indicator of waterway and habitat condition, offering insights into the environments shared by other, more threatened species.

Protecting water quality, streamside vegetation and natural creek systems helps maintain healthy habitats for frogs and the many other species that depend on them.

📢 Koala Field Day – New Date Announced! 🌿🐨

Due to the unsafe weather forecast, we’ve made the decision to reschedule our Koala CARER Field Day. While we’re disappointed to postpone, the safety of our guests, speakers and volunteers comes first.

The good news? We’ll now be gathering on Sunday 8 November! 🌱

Last Friday, Roving Restorers made their final Koala CARER visit to Sam’s property, continuing to tackle privet along a corridor connecting two neighbouring Koala CARER properties. The team gave it an outstanding effort - check out the before & after pics!!

This ongoing work is reducing future maintenance needs as larger privet trees are progressively removed and replaced with native vegetation, helping to strengthen habitat connectivity for koalas and other native wildlife.

Thank you to everyone who lent a hand throughout this project! Our Koala CARER program isn’t over yet, with more opportunities to get involved in habitat restoration and learn about koala conservation.

🌼 Spring is here!

With warmer days and longer daylight hours, our local landscapes are bursting into life — and it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the wildflowers.

From tiny groundcovers to colourful blooms tucked along bush tracks, spring is a great reminder of just how much life can be found in our native landscapes. 🌿

So grab your walking shoes, head outdoors and take some time to appreciate the wildflowers around you.

And remember, look but leave them where they grow — our native plants provide food and habitat for a huge range of insects, birds and other wildlife.

🌿 What a great day out exploring the Conondale landscape!

We had perfect weather for our recent bushwalking tour, with ecologist Susie Duncan setting the scene before we headed out on the track. Susie shared her knowledge of the local landscape, geology and land-use history, giving us a deeper understanding of the place we were about to explore.

As we walked, we learnt more about the local flora and fauna and the important role they play within their native landscape.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and joined us for the adventure! We loved sharing the day with you and look forward to continuing these opportunities to explore, learn and connect with our local landscapes in 2027. 🌱
