Assistive technology and home modifications can make everyday tasks easier and safer, helping older Australians stay at home and in their community for longer.

Through the AT-HM scheme, you may be able to access products and equipment such as wheelchairs, walking frames, shower chairs, modified cutlery, or communication aids. You may also be able to access changes to your home, such as grab rails, handrails, ramps, lever taps, or non-slip materials.

These supports can help you keep doing the things you enjoy with greater accessibility, independence, and safety.

Regaining confidence after a hospital admission, fall, or illness can be challenging. The Restorative Care Pathway can help older Australians get back on their feet with specialised funding to support them to do the things they enjoy independently for as long as they can.

What this looks like will be different for everyone. It will include allied health or nursing care, but can also cover exercises to improve strength and balance, or equipment and minor home modifications.

National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and build stronger relationships grounded in respect.

This week commemorates significant milestones: the successful 1967 Referendum (27 May) and the High Court Mabo decision (3 June).

This year’s theme, “All In”, is a reminder that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility, and we can each play a part through respectful communication, continued learning, and care that honours culture, identity and connection. Supporting people to remain at home, with dignity and choice, is part of how MCCS (on Wonnarua / Wanaruah Country) help people live their best life with care at home.

This week is just one part of a wider season of significant days and weeks.

The faces of volunteering. 💛

We’re looking back on our Volunteer Week celebrations and the wonderful people who make our community services what they are. For many of our volunteers, it’s not only about giving back. It’s also about friendship, purpose and staying connected with the community.

This year’s theme was Your Year to Volunteer, so if you’ve been thinking about getting involved, now is a great time to take that first step.

Give us a call or visit our website to find out more:

Thank you for volunteering!

During National Volunteer Week, we were proud to pause and say thank you to our amazing volunteers.

Our morning tea was a lovely chance to come together, enjoy a cuppa, share stories, and have some fun with trivia. It was also a chance to recognise the time, care, and energy our volunteers give so freely.

Whether helping with social activities, driving clients, or supporting our teams, our volunteers help make our services feel personal, friendly, and community-focused.

Thank you to every volunteer. You make a real difference.

This week, we’re supporting National Road Safety Week.

With many of our team on the road each day, safe driving is essential — not just for our staff, but for the clients we transport and support.

It’s a good reminder to slow down, stay focused, and look out for one another every time we drive.

On Mother’s Day, we take a moment to recognise and celebrate the remarkable mothers and mother-like figures in our Maitland community.

Across our clients and staff, we see the dedication, compassion and strength that comes with this role. Through the care you give and the connections you build, you help create supportive and resilient communities.

You are, in more ways than one, the backbone of our community.

Thank you for all that you do, and we wish everyone a very happy Mother’s Day 💐
