🦏 A little too close for comfort!

Two incredible videos from our Rhino Ops trip — huge thanks to Malia Black and Heather Atwell for capturing the action up close!

After being safely immobilised for ear notching, this rhino woke up with plenty of attitude… and decided the nearby vehicle was to blame! 😳

Not once, but twice, she charged and rammed the vehicle before heading off.

An unforgettable reminder that working with wild rhino is never predictable — and why experienced teams and careful planning are so important during these operations.

Thankfully, everyone was safe and the rhino was unharmed. 🦏💪

RHINO OPS – DAY 2 🦏🐾

What a day in the Save Valley Conservancy!

Day 2 of the SARF Rhino Ops trip was action-packed. The team successfully darted and ear-notched a rhino — which then woke up and decided to ram one of the vehicles! A very close-up reminder of just how powerful these animals are. (We will post a close up video soon)

🐾 The team also helped save an African wild dog with a snare around its neck, darting it and successfully removing the snare before releasing it.

Two very different operations and an incredible opportunity for our SARF guests to see firsthand the conservation work happening on the ground in Zimbabwe.

A special stop for the SARF group at Imire Wildlife Conservancy in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼🦏🐘

SARF has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Imire stretching back decades, so it was wonderful to visit again as our group makes its way south to the Save Valley Conservancy (SVC) for rhino operations.

Imire gave our guests an incredible opportunity to see rhino and elephant up close and learn more about their conservation before heading into the truly wild landscapes of SVC.

A fantastic introduction to Zimbabwe’s wildlife, and a reminder of the dedicated people and organisations working to protect it.

Next stop — Save Valley Conservancy and rhino ops! 🦏🌿

🏍️ Eight new bikes for rhino conservation! 🦏

We’re very excited to share the arrival of 8 brand-new motorbikes, fully funded by SARF.

These bikes will make a huge difference on the ground, giving teams a faster and more practical way to cover large areas for rhino monitoring and anti-poaching operations.

In the bush, being able to get people where they need to be quickly matters — and these bikes will make getting around considerably easier and more efficient.

Even better, a select group of SARF supporters will get to see these bikes in action firsthand during our upcoming Rhino Ops! 🦏🏍️

Another great example of SARF supporters helping provide practical equipment that makes a real difference on the ground.

A huge thank you to Thomas, who is donating 50% of the money he raises through busking to the Save African Rhino Foundation.

Thanks to his talent, generosity and the amazing support of his local community, Thomas has already donated over $1,040 towards rhino conservation.

Thank you, Tim. 💚🦏

Since the very beginning of the Save African Rhino Foundation, Tim has been an integral part of our journey.

Over the years, he has travelled to Zimbabwe more than eight times, generously volunteering his time to teach first aid to hundreds—if not thousands—of people who otherwise may never have had access to this life-saving training.

Just as importantly, Tim has always brought a positive attitude, a great sense of humour, and an infectious enthusiasm that made every trip and every interaction a pleasure. He has been a wonderful ambassador for SARF and someone we're proud to call a friend.

We had hoped to present Tim with this Certificate of Appreciation at our AGM, but unfortunately he couldn't make it. Yesterday, our President, Nicholas Duncan, had the pleasure of presenting it to him at the SARF office.

As Tim steps back from delivering these courses, we'd like to say a heartfelt thank you. Your generosity, friendship and lasting contribution have made a real difference, and your legacy will continue for many years to come.

Please join us in thanking Tim for everything he has done. 💚

Not your average Zoom call! 🦏💚

At our 39th AGM last night, members were treated to something truly special.

We were privileged to join Bryce and the incredible team at SVC live from Zimbabwe, where they shared the remarkable work they are doing every day to protect rhinos. As if that wasn’t enough, we were also introduced to baby Shingi – the beautiful four-week-old rhino calf currently being hand-reared after being rejected by her mother.

Seeing Shingi live was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do and the real impact your support is making.

A huge thank you to the many members and guests who joined us, both in person and via Zoom. It was a fantastic evening that left us all inspired and even more determined to continue working together for the future of rhinos.

Together, we can make a difference. 🦏

📢 A reminder to all SARF members and guests!

Our Annual General Meeting will be held this Wednesday, 22 July, at the Perth Zoo Education Centre, starting at 6:30pm.

We are also pleased to welcome SARF President Nicholas Duncan, who will be joining us in person for the evening.

We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of updates, reflection on the past year, and an exciting look at what's ahead for rhino conservation.
