🎬 OCEAN HEROES MOVIE NIGHT IS ALMOST HERE!

We’re hitting the big screen for a special screening of Jack Johnson’s brand new surf film, SURFILMMUSIC! 🎶🏄‍♂️

The film traces how Johnson’s early years making surf films with close friends became a foundation for a much broader creative life, capturing moments in and out of the water that later surfaced in his songwriting. Blending rare footage from those formative surf films and Johnson’s personal archives with present-day reflections, the film weaves together how lived experience, friendship, and exploration shaped the sound and stories behind the music. 💙

Our free surfing events are all about creating a safe, supportive space where neurodivergent people can build confidence, connect with others and experience the joy of surfing.

📣 The East Coast VOTM for September goes to our fave Bronte boy…Back-2-Back Benny Black! What began in the pool at our 24hr swim with the formidable Macquarie Bank team has blossomed into a dedicated passion for helping people experience the joy of surfing who might not otherwise get the opportunity.

An avid waterman and lifesaver himself, he was destined to do great things with Ocean Heroes. Wave-of-the-day’s are a dime-a-dozen for this guy who’ll swing on sets - riding out victorious with his groms always wearing the widest grin of all!

Benny recently tackled an entire Sydney springtime event without a wettie courtesy of a blown zipper. 🥶 This could have come in clutch post-Manly but as a belated defrost, please accept a double sauna session as a token of our appreciation courtesy of the wonderful The Sauna Project Sydney crew.

We are exceptionally lucky to have you as part of our family Benny, thank you so much for all your efforts 🫶

🌊WA VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH - TIM COLSTON
Some people volunteer their time, and some people truly become part of the organisation. Tim is definitely the latter.
Tim has given so much of his time, energy and annual leave to Ocean Heroes, always showing up, getting stuck in and helping make our events the special experiences they are. We’re incredibly grateful for every moment he’s spent with us and for everything he’s brought to the Ocean Heroes community.
So, it feels very fitting that Tim is our Volunteer of the Month once again — but this time, for a very special reason.
This is Tim’s last event as a volunteer… because the next time he joins us on the sand, he’ll be joining us as a full-time member of the Ocean Heroes team! 💙

Some days just feel a little more special 💙

This past weekend, Manly gave us one of those days.

Golden sunshine, salty hair, boards in the water, the sound of Jazz Festival drifting across the beach… and our Ocean Heroes out there making memories, finding their confidence and celebrating milestones that are so much bigger than they might look from the shore 🏄‍♀️🎷

There were waves conquered, new things tried, big smiles, proud moments and plenty of high fives along the way.
