Ocean Heroes has always been lucky to have some incredibly resilient humans willing to push their minds and bodies to the limit with endurance feats in support of our cause (Exhibit A: Andy Reid wild & wacky world-record thong & surfboard marathon 🩴🏄‍♂️).

On Sunday, these five rambunctious runners from far and wide took on the TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS Major for Ocean Heroes. They all reportedly hit the infamous 30km wall, but dug deep, pushed through to the finish line, and somehow still managed to have an absolute blast along the way. 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃

In the process, they collectively raised $22,000 to help fund our free surfing events. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them and couldn’t be more stoked or grateful. 🙏

Massive thanks to grassrootz for helping bring the team together and supporting the logistics along the way. We’ll definitely be chasing more spots next year.

Big shoutout to our WA Volunteer of the Month, ! Anton always brings the coolest style and even better energy to every event. He’s an absolute legend around both our volunteers and participants, helping create the fun and welcoming Ocean Heroes vibe we all love.

And our East Coast Volunteer of the Month goes to the wonderful 🌊

Carla has been a conscientious contributor to our Hero events over the past couple of years, bringing a beautiful energy both in and out of the water. With a genuinely vivacious outlook on life, that energy is infectious, lifting everyone around her and bringing them along for the ride.

Whenever she's not off exploring the world and all it has to offer, you can bet she'll be at an Ocean Heroes event with bells on.

Carla was putting together a career-best Ocean Heroes campaign at Palm Beach a couple of weekends ago, and this photo captures exactly why.

Something pretty special happened at Palm Beach last weekend ☺️

Our first-ever Palm Beach event marked our second location in Sydney’s Northern beaches, and for nine of our surfers, it was their first ever time surfing. One of these brave surfers, Saskia (aka Kiki), had her first ever surf right in her own backyard, with her family from nearby Avalon.

And on top of that, she had two pretty epic surf coaches: Adrian Buchan and glenhall81 from Micro's Coaching & Mentoring. – two legends in the surfing world who spent their Saturday helping Kiki experience the ocean.

Kiki sums it up best: “The thing that I liked most about the surfing weekend is that I could finally stand up and do party waves. And everyone was nice there.” 🩵

That’s what Ocean Heroes is all about – less barriers, more confidence, more connection and more fun in the ocean.

Palm Beach, you beauty 🩵

What a way to kick off Ocean Heroes at a brand new beach! Our first ever Palmy event was our most impactful first-time NSW event yet, with more people hitting the water than we’ve ever had at a new location.

And in the middle of winter, too! Are you kidding! The surf and weather gods seriously showed up for us, delivering a day full of 1ft peelers, a cloudless sky and bucket-loads of stoke ☺️

A massive thank you to our incredible volunteers who brought the energy, encouragement and good vibes that made the day so special. You created a space where people could challenge themselves, have fun and be themselves.

And to all the surfers and families, thank you for joining us and making our first Palmy event one for the books.

🧠 NEURODIVERSITY TRAINING NIGHT 🌊

Every year, we bring our Ocean Heroes volunteers together for a special night of learning, connection and understanding.

Whether you’re a long-time Ocean Heroes legend or a brand new volunteer, we’d love to have you there before our Perth Metro season kicks off!

Come along and learn more about autism, neurodiversity and how we can create the best possible experience for our participants both in and out of the water.
