Langwarrin Men's Shed The Langwarrin Men's Shed is serving
men in the Langwarrin community. We are open to the public.

The Shed is a safe haven for blokes and a place where you will be supported and accepted amongst friends. LMS is currently open Monday to Friday's from 9.30 am and invites any interested men to come along and join us. You may like to complete projects for yourself or the community or just have a "cuppa" and a chat. At the Langwarrin Men's Shed (LMS) you can spend time doing woodwork, metalwork, CNC projects, computing, cooking or just enjoy the company of mates. It is also a place where you can learn new skills which can contribute to yours and others' wellbeing. LMS also needs to raise funds to support the upkeep of the facilities. LMS volunteers provide support by their involvement with project works and activities such as Bunning’s sausage sizzles. LMS expects a small profit from projects to help cover the running costs of our facilities; hence we provide quotes for projects.

The committee members of the Langwarrin Men's Shed have made the difficult decision to suspend future membership approvals until 1st April 2027.The reason is that with the expanded membership the existing floorspace compromises safe operating practice. We either start removing equipment to open up space or we cap membership.
The membership cap path has been chosen & takes effect immediately.
We have been advocating for an expanded footprint for some years now but "Rome wasn't built in a day" as the saying goes.
We understand that there may be a future impact on local membership aspirants but this the inevitability of a Men's Shed that was built for a membership of 25 and is now trying to cater for a membership of 5 times that- a bit like trying to jamb extra sardines into a can!
For potential applicants please consider putting your name on the waiting list and consider expressing your concern with State and Federal members of Parliament that "men's health interests" are compromised by the lack of available space and funding.
And if residents and organisations who acknowledge the value of the Men's shed movement could also take time out to ask the candidates in the upcoming State election a simple question: What are your plans and timeframe for a suitable Langwarrin Men's Shed in the immediate future if you are elected? If you get a positive or negative response please let us know.
More to follow.

What can $200,000 buy?

At the Langwarrin Men’s Shed, it could mean more room for people to connect, create and contribute.

The shed has 137 members, with more people wanting to take part. But as you’ll hear from Secretary Michael Ryan in this video, they’re running out of room.

This is a true community space. It’s a place for a cuppa and a chat. A place to learn new skills. A place where people look out for each other and give back to their community.

Council has already committed $200,000. Now we’re asking the Victorian Government to match it with another $200,000 to help make the extension happen.

That’s JUST $200,000 to help a much-loved community facility grow, welcome more people and continue supporting connection and wellbeing in Langwarrin.

It’s not a big ask, but it could make a big difference.

Ahead of the upcoming State election, ask your Hastings candidates to put the Langwarrin Men’s Shed extension first.

A few of the lads from the Langwarrin Men's Shed sussed out a very small part of a great Ballarat scenic & history offering today. Train from Frankston at just after 7.00am then in Ballarat not far off 10am. So much to see and not enough time to see even a fraction of it. Photographic exhibition at the Mining Exchange was confronting, spectacular and the reality of a turbulent world.
Lunch at Craigs was, as usual, as good as it gets. We only did Lydiard St from the station to the old Ballarat Bertie Brewery where my father worked so long ago - can still taste it and furthemore it was the b**r of my choice! Free as well which was a bonus. On the other side was the School of Mines where I completed my mining engineering in 1970. the old gaol, then so many buildings of grandeur that is a list too long to describe. Down Sturt St to the Welcome nugget , then Mechanics Institute, up Bath Lane to the Pheonix Foundry, the Ballarat Carrilion, then the monuments of Sturt Street , and finally Fenwick in Drummond St. Down hill in Mair Street, the trek back to the "Big Smoke" and then onto Frankston arriving at just on 5.40pm. Great day and Ballarat is on the schedule for more visits..

Our Garage Sale was a success today and I thank the team that came together to make this happen.
Also had the privilege of a customer visiting to support us by buying some items - It was Frank Shiefler - who is standing as the Liberal candidate for Hastings for the next state election in Nov. Not a political plug but recognition for attending.
