Skilled and Business Migrants in Australia

Skilled and Business Migrants in Australia This is the HOME of skilled and business migrants coming and those already in Australia

As Australia continue to welcome more skilled migrants to fill the needs of its industries, many skills of migrants who are already here are wasted. ASMA was organised to find ways to address issues faced by skilled migrants with the aim of improving their integration into society and increasing their participation in community through the full and appropriate use of their knowledge and skills.

WynCUBATOR is a community co-working space we have established in Werribee, City of Wyndham, to support the local residents especially the migrants and disadvantaged communities to establish small businesses, social enterprises, community groups and brainstorm/create solutions to local issues. We have mentors and a support pool of local residents and volunteers. If you are in the area, drop in and speak to us. There are not enough jobs for everyone. We want to help migrants and local residents create the jobs for themselves. We are OPEN for business.

Along with Assistant Minister for Innovation Hon. Wyatt Roy MP, BlueChilli will bring together representatives from startups, VC funds, accelerators and other components of the innovation ecosystem, with policy experts from government departments to collaborate in a one-day industry policy hackathon in Sydney, Saturday 17 October 2015. Ideas were invited www.policyhack.com.au and the 10 ideas receiving the highest votes will be workshopped at the hackathon.
I made a submission as President of The Migrant HUB, founding member of the Association of Skilled Migrants of Australia and VP for the Australian Council for Multicultural Entrepreneurs http://oursay.org/community/policyhack/almost-half-of-australia-rsquo-s-population-are-born-overseas-or-have-at-least-one-parent-born-overseas
242 ideas have been submitted and 5,969 votes were cast so far. The idea with the highest votes received 453 votes. My idea received 1 vote so far - mine. The time to make submissions, I believe, is still open.
I received an invitation to attend the hackaton to present my idea, have it workshopped and pitch the idea to a panel of government representatives including the Assistant Minister for Innovation.
I am posting this to invite comments and suggestions from friends so I can prepare for the pitch better. The outcome I am hoping for is that a pilot business incubator/co-working space be established with Federal government support in Wyndham to support multicultural entrepreneurs and local small/micro businesses.
